Are you loosing "inches" instead of "lbs"?

STALL, STALL, STALL, STALL STALL...lol

Ok my VST family,

I am now 7 weeks out. When I reached 3 weeks I hit the dreeded stall! It stayed for 2 weeks and then I got sick with a cold. Because of the cold, I actually dropped 2 lbs. Now, I have been watching the Protein intake; taking in more Water, and yes -- I exercise like a champ in a race. But, my scale would not move.

Now, at 7 weeks I hit my 2nd stall. Then one day someone said to me, "You are really loosing alot of weight! Look how small you are getting". Now, in my mind -- "I am stuck at the same ol' 27lbs down (Up\down 2-3lbs from my stall) weight loss for the longest. (yeah, yeah, I know I am still fresh out of the gate..lol -- but like everyone else, I want my scale to move also.)

Afterwards, I started to think -- maybe I am loosing "inches" and not "weight". Soooo, I tried on my tightest pair of slacks and they HIT THE FLOOR! ...lol Yep! My pants hit the floor. And, then I tried on my favorite pair of slacks and they were so big, all I could say was "REALLY?"...lol

Soooo my question to you VST family is -- If you are hitting a stall, do you think you are loosing "inches" and not "weight"?

Most definitely :) I haven't hit any large official stalls yet (I know it will happen eventually) but I have never lost big numbers at a time. There are weeks were my mom swears that I look completely different, and I'll go to put on a pair of pants and they are way too big! It is very exciting :)

Most of the time YES.. when I was not seeing the scale drop I totally could notice difference in my body changing, and losing inches.. Great that you caught this and know inside you are o.k..still losing, just not showing on the scale!

Measure yourself once a month at least... it is great to see the inches go down!!!

I am definitely losing more inches than weight these days. Like you, some of my pants simply can't be worn anymore because they are way too big - and that feels great!

I am 6 months out and my scale hasn't moved significantly for about 3 weeks+. However, when I went to Zumba class yesterday, one of my classmates said that I looked smaller every time she saw me! Yesterday I tried on a pair of size 8 pants that were too tight a month ago and they fit just nicely. So I guess there is something to be said about losing inches when the scale is stuck. I have gained alot of muscle from working out and I keep telling myself that the # on the scale is not what I should be focusing on. How I feel and how my clothes fit and how I look when I see myself in the mirror...those are the real indicators of my weight loss/health improving journey. Although...that elusive 130 on the scale is still so important to me....Wish I could break that habit!

Living the dream,

Laura

My loss has been an interesting. I am now used to it. I am at five months on Saturday. I have lost 69 lbs as of yesterday.

When I hit my first stall I was frantic. So, I looked back at my band loss and I had stalls and I felt better . Now I am used to the stalls. I will lost five to ten lbs and stall for two to three weeks. During the stalls my body changes continually. So, don't worry with a stall. It is your body adjusting to the loss.

I still don't eat much and have never been able to get all the Protein down, either with the band or the sleeve. Hang in there I feel so good now, it took a while to, but it has been worth it all the way!!!!

They happen, and I am in week 2 of one right now less than a half pound away from ONEderland, but I have lost over 10 inches in the last month so I know I am losing inches if not weight. Try to stay positive. The scale will move again!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
