Vitamin D3 50,000 IU

Recommended Posts

So my list of Vitamins to purchase includes Vitamin D3 50,000 IU once a week. However, I cannot find this anywhere.

The pharmacist said its only my prescription but I don't really think that.

Anyone else taking this dose? The highest I could find was 2,000

Where can I find it?

I found a website that sells this dose that's why I'm curious. My surgeon wants me on it weekly for idk how long. I'll have to ask at my preop appt I guess.

i also have a Vitamin D deficiency and i take 2 1.25 mg of drisdol weekly, which equals 100,000 IU if i did the math right. Im thinking the doc wouldnt have prescribed it if you could find it over the counter. Good luck finding the answer.

I was able to find this on Vitalady.com. My first surgeon did labs and never mentioned anything about taking vit d even though I was low in my my numbers. When I switched surgeons he has all his patients take 50,000IU weekly.

When I had it prescribed I had to go to a "compounding" pharmacy to have it filled. It couldn't be found over the counter. Good Luck!

Amanda

I found it!! Even one pharmacy said it had to be prescribed but I was able to find it on vitalady.com :)

At three months out, my bloodwork came back with a Vitamin D deficiency and I was prescribed 50,000 iu weekly. I have been taking them now for about a month. I am glad you found them, they are usually by prescription only.

I have a Vitamin d3 deficiency also. At one time a few years ago my level was at 9....was told to keep it between. 50 and 100.

Would rather take the once a week one...was not aware of that....Thanks!!!!

My surgeons office recommends 10,000 IU's a day for us - they have handouts in the office that explain the the RDA for those living in the Northern parts of North America (or anyone else at and above our latitude, I am in Seattle) is much too low. Protocol brand is the type I get from the office - two droppers full a day - no taste at all.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
