Shapewear Benefits

Recommended Posts

I have been wearing Shapewear throughout my losing period. I really helps hold the jiggly, droopy parts in place. I am trying several different brands. I like Flexees support briefs and a couple of different camisole brands. No way am I wearing an all-over one piece. I drink way too much Water and go to the ladies room way too ofen to have to fight getting in and out of one of those.

Rhond Shear (of the Aah Bra) makes a shapewear cami that is great - but hard to find. I also like a brand called Paris Pink (found on ebay). I like Barely There Smooth toners collection cami's, too. I don't like the Sonic Slimmers brand - even though it does the job - I don't like the feel of the material.

I agree with the comments on Spanx. I by a Large size cami, even though I now wear Medium tops. The large is an effort to get into, but I like the way I look with it on. I told my husband I think the military could should buy SPANX - put the soldiers in a couple of layers of SPANX, and bullets would probably bounce off of them.

LOL, SK!! I think they could save a ton of money if they bought Spanx. I have a couple of lower body shapers, but haven't been wearing them much. I need to start. Someone here posted about a shirt they wear which helps with the arm flaps. I need to find one of those shirts.

I have a question about sizing. Do you order the size you're currently wearing or go one size up from that?

I need to purchase bras. I need regular, day to day bras. I am in the bad habit of wearing my sports bras daily, but I'm starting to see some waist definition and think I'd look better if I featured my assets rather than smushing them. Anyone have suggestions about where to get measured? I do have a Lane Bryant, but their people don't seem to be well-trained to get the proper measurements.

I get my bras at Fredericks of hollywood. They have sales all the time so that they are 2/$20 and the fit is really good. Sizes go up to cup size F and band 44. I like them a lot

I have been looking into that body shape wear advertised on this website. Leonisa or something. Has anyone tried these products? How were the results?

Yes, i did try this Leonisa for men http://www.classicshapewear.com/leonisa-upper-body-full-compression-mens-shaper-035000-p-2278.html and i got to say it works great for me, its compression is ideal, comfortable and hides everything. i totally recommend it.

I wear all sorts of Shapewear but my very favorite item is my Rago firm shapewear girdle. It's a waist cincher. It's probably way TMI but as I close those hook and eye closures my nasty tummy skin just folds up and hides away. It accentuates my natural hourglass shape and literally pulls in inches of skin. I have it in nude and it's virtually undetectable under clothing (I can't wear something knit that is skin tight without a cami over the top, though). It goes from just under my bra all the way to the top of my hips. Best of all? It was less than forty dollars. I love their vintage inspired lingerie and shapewear and this is now my favorite brand to shop.

I also wear the camisoles, waist cinchers and corsettes by Flexees. I do not like Spanx for anything but pantyhose. My personal experience is that they cost more but don't work as effectively and they just aren't as comfortable.

I can't wear any of the thigh shapers because my thigh skin is so soft that no matter how long the shorts are I have an obvious bump. I do LOVE the maidenform footless tights I just got - they suck in my thighs a lot and feel great under dress pants.

I'm always looking for a bra with a nice band that won't make lumpy back fat - and I've found that the Incredible bra by Victoria's secret works quite well. It's not a control top bra but the wider band moves with you and doesn't make lumpy spots under your clothes.

Lumpy back fat is my NEMESIS!! I haven't yet found a combination of bra/undergear that combats this menace. Gah. I have some tops that have sleeves that make it a bit better, but can't wear those under a lot of things.

ETA: Yesterday my 'high-waisted shaper' thingy gave me a GD BLISTER ON MY RIBS. Yeah, that one's going in the bin...

I have the same question. (I am looking into the Flexees Fat Free Dressing tank).

I'm sorry, but I am just sitting here laughing at myself because I just had a really big "dumb blond" moment. I'm going, "what does fat free dressing have to do with underwear; especially an entire tank of it? I didn't even know it came in a tank!" Don't tell anyone..bahaha. *blushing* SMH

OMG, these are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. I am addicted to them and wear one nearly every day. I think they run true to size, so I wouldn't go up one -- I went by their size chart and was fine. I wear a size M in them still, and have been wearing M since size 12 now to size 8. They are awesome.

For the Flexees get the size you are wearing. I started wearing the Flexees tops and tanks when I was probably 3 or 4 months post-op and I was buying the 2XL. Now I buy the L. Oh and one day I actually decided to READ the tag, and it mentioned STEPPING INTO the tank and pulling it up over your body that way! Much easier! I had a girfriend try one on at Kohl's (going over the head) and she said she thought they were gonig to have call the fire dept. to get her unstuck (she just grabbed the size she thought she would need and half way INTO it realized that it was NOT going to GO!) She called to tell me the story and I was crying with laughter. OMG! So yeah, don't try and go too small and STEP into them instead of hauling them over your head.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
