Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I just hit the jackpot!

Recommended Posts

If you've been following me lately, you know I am having nothing but drama around my Protein drinks. I've been getting very little Protein every day because of it.

Like many others, I was on a wide variety of diets before I got sleeved. One of them required you buy a bunch of their Protein Drinks. They are the liquid Protein that comes in packets that you mix with Water. I completely forgot that I bought six boxes before I quit the program. I found them when I was cleaning the cabinets this morning!

I know we should be getting whey isolate protein, but to go from getting almost zero protein to being able to get at least some form of protein AND get more Water in is a serious bonus for me.

Happy Labor Day!

Glad to hear that! That is awesome if they work for you! I have a friend who is sending me some samples - sure hoping to find something tolerable in there!

Here is the link to where I used to get them on Diet Direct. I bought them through Metabolic Weight Loss but then found them a lot cheaper online.

what Protein packets did you find? I am having a hard time too! Going to the store to buy SF chocolate Syrup to add to my chocolate Protein shake, hoping that makes it taste better! Do you know where I can buy the Protein hot chocolate that people really like? I wouldnt mind trying it, but, not sure what brand or where to buy. Thanks!

Congrats for hitting the protein jackpot!!!!

Now to be fair, I have found pros and cons about this stuff. I have found sites that state: "Hydrolyzed Gelatin or collagen. These products do not contain all essential amino acids and are not recommended for weight loss surgery patients."

I have also found sites that state that these products are recommended for bariatric surgery patients.

I KNOW that my doctor would really like me to have whey isolate Protein Powder but right now that just isn't doable. Perhaps I have developed an allergy to whey? I know that when I drink even a few sips of whey Protein, I have hot flashes followed by cold sweat. I have a lot more phlegm in my throat and my mouth goes immediately dry for about 20 minutes. I thought maybe it was dumping but this happens in whey products/mix-ins that have no lactose and no sugars.

I am not saying that this would be my first choice, but I am going to try using it as an alternative to getting almost no protein at all until I get to a stage where I can get protein from food.< /span>

I have gotten the hot chocolate from Diet Direct and didn't really care for it. It has a weird metallic aftertaste. I did order a sampler from bariatric pantry but it hasn't arrived yet. It should be here this week so I will post a review when I get it.

I used to make my own hot chocolate from milk, sugar free hot chocolate mix an a scoop of unflavored whey or soy protein... just beware, the Proteins will clump if mixed with anything too hot... keep it under 120 degrees.

I am not sure if others have suggested it or not? What about mixing an unflavored Protein powder like powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury carries into a Soup?

(((hugs))) to you! There is nothing worse than something that doesn't taste good or won't go down. I am happy the old shakes are working for you!

I had a huge problem with Protein too!

I found I can tolerate Premier Protein shakes from costco IF they're cold AND I use a straw.

I know they say NOT to use a straw. But, I decided getting my Protein in was more important than following that rule. OTher than Protein Shakes I do not use a straw.

good luck.

Emmas Mom, for hot cocoa, I simply add a rounded tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder (I like Ghirardeli) along with 1 scoop of chocolate Protein powder (I use Unjury) to 8 oz warm milk, with a dash of salt - makes it MUCH more chocolatey, and there are very few calories in the unsweetened cocoa powder. I have this most mornings - yum!

Hey Tigerlily,

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try it a few days ago and was able to get through a couple more days but it just isn't working unfortunately. The closest thing I can get to staying down super slowly is unflavored Protein Powder mixed into a Decaf latte. I'm really wondering if it is the whey. I am feeling so much better today than I have in a few days. I put my numbers into myfitnesspal and I have already gotten 60 g of Protein today. Woohoo!

I'm going to look into the protein hot chocolate that I have and see if it is whey or soy based. This whole sleeve thing is one new adventure after another, isn't it?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
