wow, I was sleeved on Aug 15th and i have experienced all of the above. My wife was wondering why I was coming out of the bathroom with underwear in my hands and fresh ones on. I said dont even ask, and she says "I didnt sign up for that part of it" lol. It takes a hell of a man to admit he sharted on himself and even a bigger one to use tide lol

Right on the money! This is the best thread ever agreed! It does take a big man or woman to admit yeah I am changing my underwear again!!!!!! So what! Sneezing should not be trusted either! And my clear tape over my infusions are driving me nuts with itching! I can't wait until tomorrow when they come off.

However, on Saturday after letting this run its course and many undie changes later, my husband picked up some liquid immodium ,.and I take a half dose of two teaspoons in the morning and it has calmed down to just one or two times a day and I don't have that sicky irritated bowel feeling anymore! Happy days are here again!

My shoulder pain is gone, and with the sharts cured, I feel great again!

Oh, this darn smart typing! I meant to say the clear tape over my incisions, not infusions! They are itching me to death! Can't wait until tomorrow to get those suckers off!

One more thing I now know that NOBODY warned me about be careful of your cats! My two were thrilled to have me back and one of them immediately jumped on my tummy! Ouch!

Yep, same for dogs too! Especially when they insist on sniffing your incision - ouch!

I am 3 1/2 weeks out and I am rolling on the floor laughing at this thread. I had all of the above issues. Leave your inhibitions at the hospital because you will do things you never thought you would before the surgery. I will tell a little story now.....after surgery later that night I had gotten up to go to the bathroom. The sharts had already started. I went to the bathroom, did my business, got up and had to prop one foot up on the toilet to wipe because those nasty catchers were in the toilet and I couldn't reach. Well, I had to take one leg out of my undergarments. After I went for a small walk down the hall I came back into my room and realized I had just walked down the hall with my undies around the ankle of one of my legs. I looked down and noticed that I had a small little bit of shart on my undies also. I took those things off and buried them in the trash. I was mortified......so I stayed in my room for several hours after that.....too ashamed to go back in the hall. The only reason I went back out there is because I was forced to by Nurse Cratchet!! Just thought I would share my horror story!

Ohhh NO! I laughed so hard I had to hold my incision! I can just picture myself walking around the hospital smiling at everyone with huge sharted granny panties around my ankle!

Poor little Hello Kitty on my drawers will never be the same.

OMG i am so pissing myself laughing right now these threads are too funny! Thank you so much i agree best thread EVER! pound.gif

Fortunately i didn't experience any of the sharts but granted i had a colonic irrigation 2 days before surgery so that might have helped

A heat pad really helps in the first few days to ease the gas pain thumb.gif

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
