I've lost 22 pounds since I began this journey. My surgery was just over a week ago. I didn't expect changes quickly.

But, I am seeing my face in the mirror again. The second chin is gone. My jawline and cheekbones are showing again. It's my thin face again!

My husband and kids have all commented on it. Although this morning, my husband said he was hoping this didn't mean I was going to get wrinkly in my face as I continue to lose.

I don't care. I have my own face back. I'm loving it. :)

I also did a quick measurement of my worst area -- hips/thighs/butt. I did the measurement with clothes on and compared it to my original, which was done in my underwear. Even with jeans, I had lost more than an inch in that area.

Loving my sleeve!

Awesome! Those NSVs are so much better than the scale victories. I remember how excited I was the day I realized I had collar bones again haha!

Isn't it crazy! I had my surgery on Aug 4th and everyone has mentioned how much different I already look in the face too. It is a great feeling! Keep up that fight, there are more wonderful things to come to us!:D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
