Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Recommended Posts

MoJo119 I liked your post. I am 5 months out and have lost 55 lbs but seem to be plateaued around 200 lbs. My goal was to get to 150 lbs but I'm starting to wonder if that is a realistic goal given my stall. I'm following the food stuff really well, ski 2 days/week and do weights and core 2 days/week. The problem for me is with the stall I am starting to feel frustrated and feel like ccheating on my food (although I'm not). MoJo119 I am about the same height as you and before I had WLS I had a tough time getting below 185 even with starving myself and working out consistently. I saw your post and can imagine being in your shoes in 6 months.

Don't sweat the not getting beyond 185 before and failing, that is in the past...

I am 5 months out and 48 lbs down and have stalled like hell. I work out hard 5 days a week. Get the tape measure and take measurements all over. I guarantee that you are loosing mad inches all over the place.

I feel the same way at times but when I measure I know what is happening.

Stay the course and you will be in the 170's it just is gonna take you and I longer because of our lower bmi starting point.

I see some people are 5 months out and down 100 plus pounds, I then say what the hell am I doing wrong, it is nothing we are doing wrong, some people are well over 300 so they are loosing at a rapid weight.

Sounds like you are doing everything right, dont let it push you off center....

Or me!

How far out are you? I'm almost a week out & I weigh more than pre-op but they say it's because of swelling and inflammation.

Going for my swallow test in the morning see what's going on with my sleeve

Good luck!!!!!

I was revised from gastroplasty to sleeve December 2013. Lost 150. Sw 350 cw 200. Losing very slowly now, but still losing. I am using every tool in the toolbox. Counseling, trainer, gym, walking, Water aerobics, monthly support groups, online support, and my personal support team of friends and family. I also call my surgeon's office when I have concerns. I have had many stalls. Some last a few days, weeks or a couple of months. Do not compare yourself to others. We all have different experiences. We did not gain over night, so do not expect to lose so quickly. Take your measurements. That is a better guide than the scale. Stalls are a good thing. Your body has to catch up with itself. Get your bloodwork checked. How is your thyroid? Are you taking your Vitamins? Are you getting plenty of Protein? Hang in there. Be patient. This is not a race.

@proud grammy...i am not so confident when i gain weight that i will get rid of it.im back over 200...was 207. Today: 205. Have no idea what helps at this point. Feels like I'm back to square one. Surgery does not consider these issues years out. i was sleeved 2011. My lowest was 185. Held onto 193 for a long stretch. Now 205. I feel like i need another surgery

I hear almost everyone relate to being "near goal" or "at goal" or "maintaining goal." I dont have a goal. Should i be concerned? My surgery is coming april 7.

Goal is what u and your doc think is right weight for your stats and then if/when u reach it, how u feel at that point. Don't worry abt it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
