Day 8 of pre-op diet..

Recommended Posts

Today is day 8 of my pre-op diet and yesterday I almost lost it, my self control  I started my monthly cycle 2 days ago and I was craving chocolate candy and feeling so irritable and annoyed that I could not have what I want. I told my husband that I don't think I can do this and started tearing up. Thank God he is very supportive and encouraged me to keep on fighting and not to give up! Somehow I found it in me AGAIN to continue.

So here I am day 8, 6 more to go, til the big day. I am so excited that it is almost here and pray the rest of the week flies by. :D

I am right there with you, luckily I only have 10 days, and I am on day 3. I totally get how you feel. We can do this, keep up the good work. :-)

Shelly 77 I am glad you had your supportive husband to help you. This is very hard... I am on day 8 also... and I would love to have anything that's not a Protein shake or Jello. Just keep you eye on the big picture... Good luck :)

Shell77 - I am right there with you. I'm on DAY 3 today and it totally sucks. To make matters worse, my doc has me on a specific brand called Optifast. It is so disgusting and hard to get down. I plan on calling them today and asking if I can substitute anything else. They mentioned Carnation Instant Breakfast but I want to make sure. What plan are you on?

I had a lot to choose from I have been going back and forth between Atkins and slim fast. I do remember seeing carnation instant on my list too. Are you allowed to have diet Water ice? If so, this has helped me some. I get it from Rita's waterice, it tastes just like regular. I wish you the best of luck, you can do it!

I wasn't so sure how important this diet was until I met with a friend for coffee yesterday. She had a gastric bypass March 3. She has my same suregon. He said he almost had to close her back up when they got inside cause her liver was so huge. She says she followed it like 75% of the time! It would be so horrible to wake up and for your surgeon to say sorry, we couldn't do the surgery cause your liver is too big and fatty. Its motivating me to keep on track!

I don't even know what day it is anymore LOL I guess maybe day10? I am having a hard time getting my calories in - my diet is low fat (super low like 6 grams a day) and high Protein - I am not a sweet eater except a few of my faves - I am sick of Jello and pudding! Veggies have so few calories! I have been ending my day at like 700 calories and supposed to be near 1000. Ugh. Flip side is I'm not hungry anymore! Can't wait to be on the other side so I can have some meat!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
