I Have to Wait

Recommended Posts

Hi All VSG'ers

So I am half way through my pre op clearances I have my endo tomorrow for my upper GI actually really happy about it because I always have heart burn. So I was all set to set my VSG for October! I am so ready!

Well after mulling over all my options ie vacation time and stuff with work I have to wait until January because by October I will only have a weeks worth of PTO and my doctor wants me out for two to three weeks since my job is very physical and he wants me healed before I do anything. So I sat down with my parents since they are going to be my primary care givers and they told me after Christmas was the best optton because my job is being a pain.

I work in assisted living as an assistant activities director so my job is physical. I would like to maintain my weight where I am right now and either lose some weight I am talking about 10-15lbs and stay where I am. It sucks but I would rather have a longer time off without losing vacation etc..

Any words, tips or just keeping me upbeat I need it really bad

I had to wait a yr. It seemed like it would be forever long, but it went by faster than I thought! It is worth the wait!!! I love my sleeve!!!

Can you take FMLA unpaid? That's what I am doing, I only have 4 days PTO available so I will be unpaid for 2 weeks before my short term disability kicks in. Don't wait, so many things can change with insurance!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
