Ok--dear ol' hubby is kinda freaking me out! He said there have been a lot of deaths at the border lately, and that it is not safe to cross due to the drug cartels....I am crossing into Mexicali--is it safe? Trying to relieve hubby's fears--any help?

Thanks!

Hi,

I was just sleeved by Dr. Aceves 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Boarder is five minutes from the hospital and I felt absolutely safe crossing it. Are you going to Dr. Aceves and if so are you flying into San Diego? If so then Ernesto will be picking you up in a white van. He does this loop multiple times a week and is obviously very experienced. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the drive from the airport to Mexicali. You drive through the desert and there are these HUGE boulders everywhere. It was a whirlwind of a trip. But we always felt perfectly safe. Good luck, Cathi

Hi,

This is an extremely SAFE border to cross. Ernesto who is the driver that picks you up from the Airport in San Diego does this 2 times a day and I promise you that Mexicali is one of the safest borders to cross. Tell hime to relax. You are in great hands and nothing will happen to you.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Thats funny to me actually. I live in Orange County California, its more dangerous to cross the street in Santa Ana at night than to cross the border in the daytime with a driver. Unless you are in the back of a van under the wheel well being smuggled across by "coyotes".

Really, you hardly even know you are crossing. You are in the van with the driver and you have to wait a little while sometimes, if there is a line.

You basically just stop for a few seconds while they glance inside the van.

They don't check inside bags or anything like that.

I had a face lift in May in Meicalli and it was the same way that time as when I crossed with Ernesto 2 years ago. We just drove right across the border without any difficulty.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
