I would stay away from the caffeinated beverages for at least 6 months - caffeine is a diuretic - so it will dehydrate you. My surgeon doesn't recommend coffee at all, but I know some drink the Decaf almost immediately. To know for sure, check with your surgeon/dietician as they will know what is best for you.

I started drinking coffee two days after surgery and I don't do Decaf. I just drink a lot of Water in between. I know that's not the right thing to do but I have to have my coffee! Good news is I can only drink half a cup now. And I only drink it in the morning, no more at night.

hi-

I likes my coffee, I however do do Decaf.< /p>

BEEN STRICT ABOUT THAT AS SOON AS I STARTED PRE-OP.

my cunfusion is- we are not supposed to drink with meals, and we are not supposed to drink calorie filled drinks between meals... (even the milk in my latte that has precious protein)

SO WHEN CAN I HAVE MY DECAF, NF LATTE???

coffee was one of my pre-op concerns. I'm a huge coffee drinker. I didn't do coffee until... about 3 months out? Even then I was drinking one coffee mug daily of the 50/50 half caf stuff. I don't remember a brand but I think it might've been Folgers? My husband would fix his coffee in the morning before work and then fix the coffee pot so mine was ready to brew when I got up. On the weekends it was kind of hard waiting "in line" for the coffee pot so I guess within the last month, he's been telling me it was my coffee and he was drinking mine but he was gradually weaning me over to regular coffee. I honestly couldn't tell a difference. When he finally started weaning me was when I got cleared for red meat & alcohol by my doctor so he figured full caff coffee would've been fine too. I had 0 problems. I'm finally back on regular coffee, thank the gods, and all's well.

I have my coffee with 2 equal packets and 2 tsp of powdered Creamer. I kind of feel sad whenever I pass the cold cases at the grocery store and see the new flavors of liquid Creamers which I used to love. But whatever right? I've got my coffee after doing without for several months. :)

My dr. told me I could have a cup a day if I wanted.....and I did cuz the caffeine withdrawal headache (migraine) wasn't worth it. But...............after my surgery the liquid pain killer effectively took care of my headache. Never did use the stuff for any pain associated with my surgery. And low and behold, 4 months out and I'm still off the caffeine!

I do have about a half cup occasionally, but it just doesn't taste the same :( Kinda makes me sad.....I really liked my coffee.

i am 3 months out and i do get an occasional "skinny" Decaf hazelnut latte. i never liked coffee unti post op, but a small lasts me 2 days of sipping so i figure it cant be too terrible. i never have been good with caffeine, though. so decaf for me only :D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
