I need help please I thought I had everything plan for july 30th when I called Louise with my deposit last week for dr Almanza. I was so happy I was gonna get this done on my summer break. I emailed Louise today with my new CareCredit card number to pay the rest of the money I got an email back that they don't accept carecredit. I only apply for carecredit after I was denied from there financing company now I don't know what to do. Because my BMI is low no doctors in the states will do it. I called Carecredit this morning they do not cover any type of weight loss surgery performed outside of the state. I found surgeryloans.com while I was googling last night has anyone use it for surgery outside of the state? If so please let me know so I can apply, if I don't get this done now I have to wait in december when school out again and I don't want to wait that long. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Go to your bank & apply for a personal loan...the loan companies for the surgeries have very high interest rates & you'll end up paying a lot..

If you don't mind me asking which doctor is performing your surgery in Mexico?

I am going to dr. verboonen. He has a clinic in TJ and in Cancun. The one in Cancun is a little more expensive (I'm sure due to the location) so I opted for TJ. My friend and I both are scheduled for August 2nd with him. We found him with International Patient Facilitators. The MyMedicalLoan people are like contractors who find a finance company for you. If was fast and easy and my interest rate is comparable to most credit cards, not great but my monthly payments are small enough that I can double up on them and get it paid off sooner and be done with it. My BMI is 31 so there is no way I would qualify for insurance coverage and I can't imagine paying $10,000 or more in the states for the same surgery. Please let me know how it works out for you. I get on this site almost every night when I get home from work. I love all of the information that is available, and you are the first person I have posted to.

I may be wrong, but sometimes dr Almanza lets you make payments. I am going through him and I have made 3 pre payments so far. Talk to Louise.

Not sure about Dr. Almanza. dr. verboonen is $4500 for surgery and all that goes with that plus 2 night stay in hospital/clinic facility. We will pay for one night at Lucerna Hotel in TJ ($80) and our meds we take home ($30) and of course air faire to San Diego where the shuttle picks us up and takes us to TJ. My surgery is August 2nd and I leave to fly home on August 5th. I plan to rest over the weekend and go back to work on Monday (legal assistant). I am not telling anyone I work with what I am doing for my "vacation" in fact the only people who know are my husband, my friend who is getting the procedure done at the same time with me, and her husband.

Dr Almanza price is the same as your doctor, thank you for sharing I haven't pick another date yet but I will try to get it done before I go back to school on the 22nd of next month. I agree with you about not telling anyone nobody knows I'm getting it done too except my husband. They will be surprise once I start slimming down. Some will think that I'm sick and some will say oh no she's starting another diet again. Good luck with everything.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
