Ok to all who have started and all who will start it soon...what was your Final meal? As I sit here with the grill warming up for some boneless ribs and have a martini on the patio table.....i wonder who had what types of food the last time before their pre op diet started? Were you all good people and ate something nutritious or did you go nuts and eat everything you thought you'd miss forever?

I spent about a week eating at my favorite restaurants before I started the liquid diet. At the time I really thought I was mourning the upcoming "loss" of these restaurants/foods. The beautiful thing is that I eat everything I want to, just in limited quantities. I'm 8 months post-op and don't deprive myself of anything I truly want. You will likely get to that point in your journey as well. So, saying goodbye should really be more like "see ya later". :)

Good luck,

Lisa

Gayle, you're too funny! I feel good, okay very good, wearing small sizes. However, I still don't see myself as "skinny". I look in the mirror and see the same ole, overweight me. Not sure if everyone goes through this, but I hear it can take 18 months to see yourself as you really are when you look in a mirror.

You were wise in setting your goal lower than mine. It was always 160 but I'm thinking now maybe 130???? You will see just how quickly this whole thing happens.....

Before my pre-op, I had a big 'ol cheeseburger, fries and a coke from a local burger joint. Which is way better than run of the mill fast food burgers. Yummy!

Then, the night before my surgery down in Mexicali, my surgeon let me have an "official" last meal and it was filet mignon and shrimp, loaded baked potato, and another of my beloved cokes. Dessert was a 3 milk cake which I had never tried before and it was to DIE for.

Ahhh, it was fun just sharing that...biggrin.gif

I too made the rounds to my favorite restaurants before my liquid diet. My "last" meal though was a "double barrel baked potato" from Soulman's BBQ and an order of stuffed Jalapenos from Church's chicken. My lord I can't beleive I ate all of that! Good luck with your upcoming pre-op diet. That was the most difficult time in this whole journey for me. Post op just seemed so much easier to deal with because I had very little hunger.

thanks weho and Disney...LOL i love that I was not alone in my Quest for pre pre-op food. Started the pre-op today and the "pancake"..made in a cup like a muffin is HORRIBLE! it tastes like aspertame (sp?) super sweet fake sugar and i'm trying like heck to get it down. Not a problem chewing it a lot..you odnt want to swallow it....LOL

Today is my last meal day.. I am having surgery Wednesday and have to do Clear Liquids for the day before. I am thinking my "last meal" will be Beef Lo Mein from my favorite Chinese place! I am going to be low carbing it after surgery, so I won't be choosing lo mein from the menu anymore.

My official last meal was at a japanese steak house. Wonderful food and fun to sit around the grill with my closest friends on my final night. However looking back I spent at least the last month frantically eating out all over town...I think they call this the "last supper" syndrome.

LOL I like this post I always wonder what people ate as there "last meal" . I ate chinese and honestly as I sit here and havent eaten except for the chinese and not even the night before few days before I feel like I should have splurged more. I havent eaten anything but broth and ice pops very sick of Jello dont even touch it anymore in about 5 weeks. Im glad I followed directions but all these docs have different rules I wonder if me not eating for this long is really necessary. I had surgery on june 28 and still on broth by now im pretty used to it but fod still looks good

I went to an old fashioned supper club and had a full rack of BBQ Ribs and my wife had a King Cut Prime Rib and we shared. This came with cheesy hashbrowns and a salad bar that included Cold BBQ chicken gizzards. I am so glad that I had this meal now that I am 6 days post op and am on Clear liquids. I really didn't see any gain since I took my bowel prep immediately the next morning. I don't think I "went nuts" I just really wanted to taste some of those things that I am not planning on eating until I reach my goal weight.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
