QUESTION...ADVICE needed PLEASE!

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I finally have some restriction now (since my fill on Thurs). About 2 or 3 hrs ago I had a digestive cookie (just one) and I feel something "sitting" sorta I guess where my band is....it's not painful, although it is slightly discomforting. About 30 mins ago I had a bit of hot tea thinking that might help (it didn't).

So, my question is....(because our supper is almost ready) should I just avoid eating right now and wait to eat supper until this feeling has gone away? I'm not sure if I should "test" it and take a few bites of supper or if that would be completely stupid.

I REALLY don't know because I don't know if this means something is stuck (in which case I know I shouldn't put more food on top of it...right?) or if it is just a weirdo feeling that you normally get with restriction.

Advice appreciated!!!! Please and thank you!

wait longer, also a good brisk walk will help move the object I suggest waiting long on eating tonight

I'd wait to eat solid food until you're feeling 100%. I've had those feelings and I just get active. Getting my mind off of it also helps. Whether I'm exercising or just doing housework, it's amazing that you're busy then all of a sudden you feel better.

BTW, what is a digestive cookie? If it has a bulk fiber/laxative substance in it, those items often cause a "back up" in the upper part of your stomach and may make you uncomfortable. Bulk Fiber is not recommended in bandsters.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
