1st fill - details

Recommended Posts

Good Morning, Good Morning! (I feel like those Viagra commercials) I HAVE RESTRICTION!!!!! Yes, it worked. Went yesterday for my first fill, I wasnt nervous until I saw the needle, Holy Hell!! Anyway Dr. Cobourn has such a great bedside manner that he could have come at me with a jackhammer and I would trust him totally. My port had moved a bit so he had to try a couple of times to get it, but it really didnt hurt. When he did hit the port I could feel him hit it (it was weird). Then he put the saline in I could feel the sensation from the port right up into my throat (that was even weirder). I could drink the Water afterward but it felt different. This morning I ate cottage cheese, I really had to eat slow and had to stop way before I would usually stop because I was FULL!!! I Love this Band, I Love Dr. Cobourn and I Love life TODAY!!!!! How's that for a story....Oh ya, I also had a little caffiene this morning too...hence the drama...:drama:

Hey Cloe,

Thanks for the post, I have my first fill scheduled for Wednesday of this week and I'm a bit nervous. I've already seen the needle though, they actually gave me my needle that came with the band pack at the hospital. I took it to my surgeon. Glad that things are going well for you!

Hi Cloe,

Glad everything well for you, i have to make an appointment for my first fill and i have to say i was nervous about it. You have made me feel more comfortable now about getting it done. I hope i feel as good as you do after i get mine.

I'm glad your experience was a positive one. I think I was more afraid of the fill than the surgery but I've had 2 now and it's really no big deal. I got restriction on fill #2 so ENJOY!

That is AWESOME Cloe!! Yeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

How was the trip home on Fri up the 400? Uneventful, I hope!

So, my friend, you and I are sorta at the same point! I went out to dinner last night and I had some poached eggs....and a bite of soft toast with jam on it. YUMMY. I'm not so sure if I was "full" afterwards but I didn't eat much but I think it was more out of fear than being full!! I'm reallly paranoid right now to eat much anything solid....!!!

Anyhoooo, way to go!!!

:scared:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
