Thanks guys :) and Dawn, uh... 150 lbs in less time than ME! I'm not YOUR hero! :D 28lbs left for you! I bet your before and afters would be amazing! *cough, cough - where ARE they?!*

And to answer that question - yeah, she does do a different job that me. It's more responsibility, and I'm sure she deserves it and or earns it. At least now, I don't have to feel bad if she has to stay late, or whatever. Just last night, I came home for dinner, and was going to go back to work and help her out... I didn't have to, I wasn't asked to, it wasn't my fault anything was behind. But I felt bad for her. Then I got to comfortable at home, and figured, screw it. She got herself into this mess.

I was mad/peeved up til today, because she was being paid LESS than me, doing something with more responsibility, but would NOT say anything about it. She didn't want to give them the wrong impression (I had just found out that she's been paid less, a couple days ago).. or whatever, so was just going to do NOTHING about it. So I figured, whatever, let her suffer if she doesn't have the guts to bring this to their attention. Then, they come to her and tell her that they thinks she needs to be earning more. I think I am making the right ummm...ratio to someone in her position, so I shouldn't have a problem. But she just got there, they made up this job for her, and she's making more!! I'm jealous. I admit it. I lost more inches though... :heh:

Ahhh... whatever. I've got some thinking to do.

Of course you can reach your goal. You work damn hard at it...you go to the gym, you make the right food choices...why wouldn't you? You'll make it and we'll all Celebrate Lapband style!!!!

As far as the work situation goes...things like this happen when people with big mouths start talking about their salaries. I know it’s tough when you make less than someone you helped get a job there. Remember they hired her because of her connection to you. Try to keep your chin up and thank the higher ups that you can leave work and have a life after hours. Stay at the gym a little longer and use the time to take care of yourself. Think of it as prep work for your next promotion and/or raise. Make sure you always have wonderful things to say about her and try to stay positive when she talks about her success. You could also ask your supervisor about any additional projects that you could possibly take on. This type of proactive approach is seen as being a "team player" of the best kind. You may want to have a few ideas to present when you talk to them but be sure to leave them with the impression that this would be of benefit to them and that you are suggesting this because you appreciate your company and see areas where they could improve. Your raise and promotion could be just around the corner. Everyone you meet with and talk to throughout the day is a chance to demonstrate your abilities, show off your winning personality (even if all you want to do is rip their smug head off) and present your killer features (ass, boobs, waist or perfectly arched eyebrows-whatever is sexy that day). This may be a little simplistic but the old adage "kill ‘em with kindness" does work. I tend to do the opposite which hasn’t served me well. I just can’t seem to keep my big mouth shut. I stick my foot in my mouth all the time…I feel like I’m flying high when I tell that so and so how his/her behaviour is wrong but then feel pretty crappy when they fire my ass.

So basically forget what I’ve written, I have no idea what I’m talking about.

Duh…is that something shiny over there? :blah:

Omigawd, grrl, I do feel for you! I've also worn the T-shirt. I saw a woman who worked for me get hired to a position senior to my own when I was working at the University of Toronto and all I had to comfort myself with was that I at least wasn't chinless! The fact that she was a wonderful person didn't stop the hurt that I felt at the time.

And I was young and poor. I was married to a musician which meant that I was supporting two people, one who got to sleep in every morning. Ugh! There were times during those years when I ate a lot of Kraft dinner.< /p>

Later on I ditched the musician; he was expensive, lazy and he wasn't faithful. I started making much more money. I bought a tiny shack of house and paid it off. Its value appreciated - property values always do - and I started trading up in both the category of men and of houses.:rolleyes

You are very lucky; you have already got a good and working man. From my own experiences of ageing and from that of observing those of other people who are my age the general rule of thumb seems to be that when you are young you have your looks, your health and your physical, creative, intellectual and emotional energy. When you are old you have money, stability, knowledge, self-confidence and sometimes - if you are very lucky - savoir-faire.

The trade-off is that when you are young you are cornered by money problems and job problems and are continually being dissed by the power structure. On the other hand when you are old you are a physical wreck and it is only going to get worse. You also get to see a lot of people who you want to have around you die.

Trust Green on this one. She's has worn both T-shirts!:phanvan She knows, eh.:tired

Well, you guys... thank you. You did cheer me up and make me feel better.

I thought, tonight, that even though I said I'd neeeevvvvvver waitress. Maybe I would now. At a bar or something. Maybe I thought I'd never do it cause I'd never be hot enough to make good tips! Ok, not now... later on down the road. Dan's mom is a waitress at a hotel, and she makes as much in tips as she does in 'wage' every week.

I'll figure something out... or cut things out. I had a plan a while ago, I just forgot what it was.

Thanks for the support guys!

MY dtr in law occasionally does the odd shift at a bar on a weekend to supplement her income (she also swore she'd never do it), and she makes a crap load in tips! if u know anyone who will let u work the odd time (not make a steady commitment) it may be an option. And trust me, you are hot now! you would get plenty of good tips!

Yoda!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Argon, you're not that Skanky. I was once called a "Fat Skank" by this loser at work. I made sure to call myself a "Fat Skank" anytime he was around. Friends would reply "come on...A Skank maybe but Fat? Where did that come from?".

I think that skinny Skanks probably make better tips than fat ones though. Waitresses really do make a killing...sly as foxes they are.

This is going to sound weird but for years now I have wanted to try working as a waitress. I've wanted to see how people would tip me.

(not weird, green... it would be interesting.. and maybe an ego boost to do well!)

Ok guys. I have a secret. It's something I haven't wanted to mention here, because I didn't want to be judged. I think you guys know me well enough, and hopefully won't think I'm weird, or whatever because of this.

Last summer, a week before I moved to NB, I got a piercing. It was something I had wanted for quite a while. I got it at the spur of the moment, I wanted to surprise Dan... just did it. I wasn't quite ready for it. Luckily, and kind of unfortunetly, it's something quite easy to hide, and that's what I've been doing with it, 95% of the time. I got my septum pierced. What the heck is that, some of you are thinking... right? The best way to describe it is one of the reasons I'm scared to show it.

You know 'bull-rings'? Right in the middle of the nose, not the nostrils.. inbetween. My biggest fear is that someone would say something like "How fitting... a cow with the bull-ring", or something to that extent. That's what stopped me from getting it in the first place, all this time. I didn't want to get it 'fat'. I just haven't gotten to the point YET where I feel like I could get away with it, and not be scared of that. I know it's stupid (and I'm sure some of you think I AM stupid for getting/having it).

It's tiny... probably barely noticable, and the kind of ring I have at most would make it look like I have little tiny silver snot balls on the inner edge of each nostril (3mm balls, to be exact).

So that's it. Just getting that out there. Maybe telling you guys is the first step to me ultimately walking into work in my silvery nosed glory.

uhh... I also have big holes in my ears. :phanvan

I'm weighing myself tomorrow morning... be gentle to me... I think it might be rough!

This is not me... I wish. I think she looks good. She's got one... this is 'roughly' what it looks like. (except a different 'type' of ring)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
