I get my Protein from eating those little cans of prepared tuna. They have snap-off lids. I love the Thai and the tuna with lemon and pepper the best. I also eat a lot of tzatziki - yogurt with cucumber and garlic. These are foods that taste good and all you require is a spoon and a recycle box for the tubs they come in. So very, very easy for a lazy grrl!

I get the 'how much did you eat?" thing, and I'll show him my bowl/plate, and if it's not very much, I get a disappointed look, and if it's alot (kinda) I get a "good job"! haha We'll go out for dinner/lunch with people who don't know, and afterwards, I'll whisper (or not) "I ate all (or almost all) my ___ " Kinda funny how it's now good to eat it all, well, at least when 'it all' is still not alot.

No comment on the popcorn thing :| *zips lips*

You know what else was good at Quizno's? The nanaimo bars!!

I always stayed away from tuna... tried it again a few months ago, and liked it. Then in my cupboard, I found a can of 'skipjack' Cloverleaf tuna. Didn't know what that was, but I ate it anyways. It was horrible, and now I've turned myself of from tuna!! It's too bad, cause it's so good for Protein. I'll try again when I can get that taste outta my mouth.

green, what do you eat your tzatziki with? I used to make these greek pitas, and they were sooooooo good.

I like tzatziki so much that I will eat it straight up with a spoon. Of course it is also good as a dip or eaten with roast/bar-b-queued meat or with crackers. I buy these crackers that are very high in fibre; they are called Finn Crisp and I think that they are delicious. Summer Fresh makes very good tzatziki that is not high in calories.

Summer Fresh also makes an Asiago and Artichoke Dip that is to die for but it is kinda high in calories. I sometimes eat it with Finn Crisps since they are so low in calories and so high in fibre.

Re. the popcorn thing; yeah, I've also been told to completely avoid it. But, I've never been a big popcorn fan, so at least that is ONE thing that I'm okay with!!

Now girls, I've never had a problem with popcorn and many of you know that I've had PB for several weeks (much better now!) The object is to chew, chew until it dissolves - but I haven't felt the need for the "extra" calories of late and I'm doing much better without the fat that goes with Popcorn.

Have a great day. Back to work on Monday - oh and I went Bathing suit shopping!! Yes I got up the courage since the kids had me at the pool all this week and the BS fell off - yes it's ok to laugh!! Ha ha. I got a nice (and striking black one piece with a splash of hot pink and dusty blue)

I'd only ever heard on here, that some Dr's recommend staying away from popcorn. I was never told that. But lots of Dr's tell people lots of different things. I thought I'd never eat ALOT of things (and kinda hoped), and still can. So yeah, I eat popcorn, VERY easily. I eat it a few nights a week. One of those 'mini-bags', and I'm set for the night.

green - I think I actually have seen that Summer Fresh brand, so I'm very excited. I also noticed the Asiago/Atrichoke, and was intrigued. Putting it on a roast, instead of horseradish (?) would be good, I think. I'll let you know when I try it, and if I approve!

Argon,

It was hilarious - only my daughter noticed- and YODA shamed me into going shopping for a new one after I tied a string to the straps the following day. But it was fun shopping for it - took a couple of days to get the courage up to try one on - I fingered them for one day and went the next - sounds crazy eh? But that's been my struggle.

I don't chew gum anymore, and if I do, I MAKE SURE I spit it out. Yeah, because if I swallowed it... I don't know what would happen, I'm sure it would eventually go through (but then I think of how food will eventually break down... gum doesn't really, at least not as quick as it should) And the pieces of gum I chew are definitely big enough to not just pass through my 'hole'. I have problems sometimes, even when I break a tylenol in 3 pieces.

It definitely would be very uncomfortable, and that's not something I want to find out!

Like, if you're ever stuck in a candy store for a long period of time, and just HAVE to eat something to survive...... just be careful and chew that awful stuff real good!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
