HEY ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE HAVE AETNA INSURANCE? I HAVE A GENERAL QUESTION. WHEN YOU WERE APPROVED DID THEY SEND YOU A LETTER TO YOUR HOUSE LETTING YOU KNOW? THE REASON I ASK IS BECAUSE I HAD JUMPED THROUGH ALL OF THE HOOPS ON JUNE 7TH. MY SURGEONS INSURANCE COORDINATOR SAID SHE WOULD SEND IN MY CASE TO MY INSURANCE ON JUNE 14TH. TODAY HAS BEEN 10 BUSINESS DAYS AND I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING. I CALLED THE SURGEONS OFFICE BUT THE INSURANCE GIRL IS ON VACATION THIS WEEK AND I HAVE THIS SINKING FEELING THAT SHE HASN'T EVEN SENT IT IN- AND SHE WONT COME BACK UNTIL JULY 5TH!!

Yes, they mail a letter to your home and send a cc to your doctors office. They will usually also call your surgeons office to let them know so they can start with the scheduling etc. I had to wait almost two full weeks to get my response from Aetna. I was already scheduled by the time the letter made it to my home though.

I would ask to talk to someone else in the office to see if they have heard anything yet on your case.

My contact at Aetna told me they have a 15 day turn-around... I know it's hard, but try to be patient.. you'll get your approval.

My doc's insurance coordinator let me know that they had approved it - they called him first and I got a letter in the mail a week or so later. Their turnaround back in March was about a week, which shocked both of us considering their reputaion for foot dragging (of course they are dragging their feet about paying the surgeon now, saying they need "more information" despite it being approved and them paying everyone else involved. Situation normal in the insurance world!

I have Aetna and mine was sent in 6/21. I have called and they told me I wasn't even in the system yet. They have received it but nothing has been done with it. They told me it could take up to 30 days. The wait is horrible... My surgeons office did say to call and bug them...

I received a letter approving me for the band, sleeve, and bypass as my surgeon had me cleared for all of them and left the ultimate choice up to me. I received the letter a couple of weeks after first visiting my bariatric surgeon.

I CALLED THE DRS OFFICE AND THEY SAID AFTER THEY GET THE LETTER THEY WILL SCHEDULE ME FOR SURGERY. SHE DIDN'T KNOW IF IT HAD COME IN YET BECAUSE IT WOULD ONLY GO TO THE INSURANCE COORDINATOR WHO IS ON VACATION. BUT SHE WILL BE BACK ON THE 5TH AND I BET THEY WILL SCHEDULE ME THEN.... JUST A MATTER OF TIME NOW. WOOOOOHOOOOOO

Hi LucyCat, I was impatient too. I have Aetna and when my insurance coordinator over took over 7 days, I called Aetna myself. Aetnas customer service was able to tell me when the request was put in, what additional information was requested from the coordinator, when the new information was recieved and they also told me I would have a decision within 48 hours. I called to check 24 hours later and was informed by Aetna that my surgery was approved. It's your insurance company so you have every right to ask them questions directly. Keep in mind that all of your records are reviewed by an Aetna medical review commitee so give it just a few more days. I bet you get your answer this week. Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
