I really think that is GREAT weight loss. That is almost 3lbs a week if you do the math!! I know that everyone wants the weight to come off quickly and compare themselves to everyone else.

I think you are doing great! AND the slower you lose it, the less skin you will have, so be happy about that at least!

If you post what you are eating each day it will help. Are you measuring your food? Counting calories? Exercising?

Thanks--your intake appears to be on track. How much do you have to lose? "Lightweights" (those who have less than 100 lbs to lose) lose about the same percentage of weight as bigger people, but because they are smaller the pounds are fewer--does that make sense? Someone with 100 lbs to lose who loses 27 lbs has lost 27% of their excess weight, whereas someone with 200 lbs to lose who loses 54 lbs has still lost only 27% of their excess weight.

If I were you, I would not compare myself to others. I figured out early on that I would not be losing 75 lbs in three months like some people. However, I kept at it, haven't become discouraged because the scale keeps moving down, and I'm 26 lbs. from goal.

Keep plugging along and don't lose heart!

I started out with 100 lbs to lose, have lost 38 pounds in 13 weeks......but I DID have to up my calorie intake and try to get more calories with less carbs for it to work out. Give it some time....I thought I was going slow but my surgeon is thrilled.

That menu wouldnt reach my Protein goals are you getting at least 70 grams of protein a day? That looks close to what I ate but add a Protein Shake or two.

example:

Breakfast: 4-6 ounce Atkins shake

Lunch: 1/2 cup turkey chili Beans

snack: string cheese

dinner: 3-4 oz baked fish 1/4 cup mixed veggies

I have the atkins shakes .. they are not enough Protein for 1 day. At least not one. Also, they are higher in fat. Try a different type of Protein Drink. I use the GNC Wheybolic extreme 60 they are delish. Especially the chocolate. 3 scoops is 60grams of Protein and only 10 fat calories. It is extremely low on fat, sugar and carbs. I have lost 31 lbs since June 1 (pre op diet start date) and of that 31 - 25 has been since my surgery date of June 9th. You can do it!!!!!!!!!

Hello Lisa,

At 9 1/2 weeks I had lost 29lb and I had just over 100lb to lose... I don't think you are a slow loser at all... I think you are doing well and over a quarter of the way to goal... in just 9 1/2 weeks... that is pretty good!!

One thing that I tend to do - as I am a real slow loser, but still losing - is to up my Water intake... sometimes that really helps!

I did make a massive mistake, and that was comparing myself to others... my body is just resistant to change and doesn't like getting rid of any fat! A couple of mths ago I hit a major stall where I didn't see any scale movement for about 6 weeks... that took me to a real dark place... fortunately I came on here...read some great stuff and didn't lose my mind completely!

Keep doing what you are doing... don't compare and try to enjoy the journey... it will come off, but we are all different and, I think, that is a good thing =]

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
