Hi, Today is day 8 of my surgery. I'm home alone and was feeling great until a few minutes ago. I became very dizzy and it won't go away. I have been pushing my liquids this morning to make up for a couple of days where I don't think I got enough. I tried to take my blood pressure with a wrist-type BP monitor and it kept giving me an error reading. Should I go to the ER?

Lie down and relax a bit. Try to put your feet up. It should pass. You are probably overdoing things and your body is reacting.

If you can't get the dizziness to go away in 30 minutes or so, you should probably call your surgeon and/or have someone take you to get checked out.

Feel better soon.

Could be a number of things. COuld be dehydrated, not enough food.

DO you take bp meds? I was severly dizzy about day 6-10, finally went to my pcp and he took me off my bp meds. YAY. also did blood work and i was severly anemic as well and my electrolytes were really low!

you should go see your dr. or at least call them!! NOW.

Kelly :(

I hadn't been drinking as much as I should until yesterday (couldn't get it down). Today I've been doing very well. It's noon here and I've had 4 oz Gatorade, 18 oz of Water and a Protein Shake. I'm worried that by trying to get the extra fluids in I may have torn something, but I have no pain--just dizziness.

If you think you're dehydrated, yes go to the ER!! Have you been unable to drink much?

Everything turned out fine. I stopped taking my blood pressure meds and haven't had any more dizzy times. My blood pressure is great too. I'm actually on vacation at the beach now. Each day gets better. Thanks, everyone.

How did the rest of the day go? Feeling better?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
