Hello, I am new here. I have been researching WLS for a couple of years and I am finnally going for it. I have gotten the referal from my doc. I have had the blood tests and appt that are required from my insurance. (chess xrays, ekgs ect.). I have my first appointment with my surgeon on the 13th of July. I am very excited. I would like to lose 150 lbs. Currently 315ish and would like to get down to 165.

I am having a hard time getting the PSYCH to sign me off. I had marriage issues in January and she does not believe that enough time has passed for me to go through such a change. The marriage is doing fine and is back on the right track, if not better. I have made another appoinment with another doc. My cousin told me not to tell the truth and just to tell them what they want to hear.

I do not want this hanging over me. I feel like I am being punished because I got help when I needed it. (Military spouse, and the miliatry looks down on mental health still)

Hi, Abby.

I am new to the forum today---my surgery is next Tuesday (6/28/2011). I have about the same amount to lose that you do...maybe a bit more. I am 6' 3" 386, and want to get down to around 215.

I'll be interested to follow your progress. I wish you well!

Take care,

Rob G

With everything going on, I am surprised the military doesn't take better care of y'all...whether you're the one in uniform or the one behind it sending your spouse out everyday in uniform. GRRRR!!!!

I'd go on to another psych too. Part of making a marriage work is also being able to make yourself work...I'm wondering why she won't clear you for it. I hope you can find someone soon!

I am in your boat...I want to lose about 145lbs myself. We can do it!!!

I would possibly look into another doctor too, the first time I saw the psych for my eval. she made me see her 2 more times afterwards because she was worried about my depression. Reason being she said because after surgery people can get really depressed because of the emotional roller coaster.

Good luck on finding a new doctor and getting cleared :)

I agree, hang in there and get yourself to another doc, get past that evaluation and on the road to being a sleever!

This is the best decsion I have ever made, and I did it for me... for me to be healthy and for me to be more active with my family rather than sitting around watching on the sidelines!

Good Luck!!

I'm new to this board too - had my surgery on April 26 of this year. Down about 67 lbs. of the 160 I'm hoping to lose. So far it has been pretty simple. The weight loss does slow down eventually but I need to kick up the exercise - am really bad with that. Looking forward to seeing how we all do together :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
