Got a date and good news!

Recommended Posts

I just got off the phone with the scheduler - my surgery will be July 12!!!!! The pre-op teaching will now be June 27 instead of the regular followup appt that I had scheduled that day.

Now for the really good news - it's not going to cost me as much as I thought! Originally they told me it would be 17K, but she just told me it would be 15,300 instead (plus the suppliments/vitamins that I have to buy from them - another $150. YAY!!!!

The downside: I have a family reunion that I will be attending in Maryland on July 8 and 9. I won't be able to eat the dinner with the family since I'll be on a 2 week pre-op diet at that time. Oh well, I guess it will give me good practice for life with the sleeve.

Congrats on your July 12th surgery date! That makes four of us that I know of! :D

Also congrats on saving some moolah! That's always awesome.

Thanks everyone. It just hit me how fast this is happening. I went to the initial seminar on April 6, had my first appointment with the doc on May 18 and now will have surgery on July 12 (just over 4 weeks away)!

Yup, the emotional roller coaster has begun... LOL

Thank you everyone. I came to the conclusion that there must be something significant about the 12th. Four years ago, I had back surgery on May 12. Now, I am to have the VSG on July 12. The genealogy trip that I am on - there are 12 participants. There's been a couple of other instances of 12 coming up in my life. I think that will be my new "lucky" number. LOL

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
