Hello! I was sleeved on June 1st - I had lost about 9 before the surgery (two weeks of shakes) and once I got home I was down to 17 pounds lossed. That seems like a REALLY big jump for in the hospital and then nothing since. I have been at the same weight for 5 days. I am new at this, but I am panicking it didn't work! How fast is the weight going to come off in the beginning? It seems like for some people 30 pounds in two weeks is normal but for others 30 pounds takes two months... Is staying the same weight for several days just after surgery normal??

Congratulations on your weight loss! You are doing great in my opinion. I am 5.5 weeks out and lost 19 lbs. since surgery. It has been 2 weeks since the scale has moved but my clothes are hanging off me. Everyone is different and I think (someone please correct me if I am wrong) that the more weight you have to lose, the faster it comes off at first. Just keep following your plan and you will do great!

Laura

p.s. I had to stop weighing myself every day because it was making me discouraged. I asked Hubby to hide the scale for me and give it back once a week so I can weigh. I get a little obsessive about what the scale says.

That is so funny - my husband JUST threatened to hide the scale and I think I am going to have to let him. I can't resist. I can tell my clothes are fitting differently and I am obviously eating far less, I am just anxious. I am on the lower side I guess, given that I only have a little bit more than 100 to lose - so if the more you need to lose the faster you lose is true, that makes sense. Congrats on your loss!!

Hi! I was also sleeved June 1st and am only down 8 lbs since surgery, so I would say you are doing great! I think a lot of the problem might be Water weight??? I am anxious to start walking (even slowly) and i think that will help a lot since my metabolism is probably way down right now due to lack of energy intake. Good luck to you and glad to know someone sleeved the same day!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
