Are you guys real people and patients?

Hi,

I am brand new to these boards. I have been researching, reading all the boards and watching youtube videos of people's experiences of having the vertical sleeve done in Mexico. The youtube videos all look professionally done. I have not found one negative post, well one where a woman complained they didn't give her any jello! So now I am beginning to wonder if it is all one big scam. That the posters on here are hired by the facilities to promote the surgery. I have talked by phone to a patient coordinator Sandy, of Dr. Ramous-Kelly in Tijuana. I am tentatively scheduled for July 12 th, but my family is having fits. The forms the office sent me to fill out list Bravo Development Group LLd as the person you send the initial deposit to. That is a company in California that develops websites? It is owned by Sandy Johnston. I am guessing they are the same person. I have two small children and don't want to lose a 1000.00 deposit if this is all a big scam.

If you guys are really patients what did you do to feel reassured? Is there any way to verify if this is all for real. My family all lives in Southern California I am in Indiana. Two of my sisters are nurses. They are going to ask doctors they work with if they have heard of Dr. Kelly or Dr. Aceves and what they know about the facilities. Is there anything else I can do. I appreciate anyones help or suggestions.

Thank you,

Cathi

Hi,

I also used to think the very same thing. I am about as real as they come. I sent you a private message. Please read it.

Hi,

I would never want to do any recovery in a Hotel room. After having major surgery, I would only consider having my surgery done in a full fledged hospital where I have 24 - 7 care from very qualified nurses and doctors. It is also not a time your life to be PRICE SHOPPING. This is serious surgery and you need to stop and think--why are some of these suregons able to charge so much less????? The doctor is able to charge less because he is NOT having you recover in a hospital. Hospitals do cost more. And I know there are times when so many of you have done really well with your recovery in a nice Hotel Room. But, what if you DO have a complications?????? I want someone there

24 - 7 and I don't want to wait until someone comes to check on me in a hotel room.

That is my preference and I can only speak about my own experience. I was scared and had a million emotions going on before I had surgery, and I wanted the very best care I could have before and after my surgery.

You should want the VERY best you can have too.

Hugs,

Suzanne :P

I have had surgery (gall bladder) here in the US and was sent home the same day. Alot of people here on these boards had their surgery here in the US and were sent home within 24 hours. I am having my surgery with Dr Kelly and they keep you 2 nights in the hospital and 2 more nights in a hotel close by where you are checked on and can have access to them if needed. I think this is a better way to go then being sent home the same day. How would I know once Im home if the pain Im having is normal or out of the ordinary and needs attention? I have no worries about the way things are done in Mexico. I would have a problem with being sent home the same day. I didnt like it when I had surgery before here in the US and wouldnt like it now either.

I'm pretty real, on Facebook with real family and everything. You can find plenty of horror stories about certain Drs in Mexico. I had a great experience and very much researched my surgeon. Good luck!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
