Embarrasing question

Recommended Posts

I'm still pre-op but already have an overhanging belly as a result of 2 C-sections. I have been walking and added in little spurts of running. When I run, my belly slaps against me and makes a loud clapping sound. What can I do to help this as I know it will only get worse as I lose weight.

You can get a wrap around band, they sell them in the work out sections of stores. Sometimes they call them lift belts, or belly/stomach belts, or bands. They are about 10 or so inches wide and stretch around your stomach and just velcro attach. I love them. I use two because I like the added support, but having it on helps me work out so much more comfortably. Another idea is a compression top. I invested in a compression suit for $50 bucks, and I love it, but when I buy my next one when I need a smaller size I will just be buying a compression top. They work wonders!!

Something like this!

Thanks foxgirl. Do you have a link to where you got your compression suit for $50?

This is the one I got, but I think it must have been on sale, and I am pretty sure I ordered it through somewhere else. I would keep checking because I'm sure it will come up again somewhere, but if not $65 is very reasonable for a compression suit. If you want to spend less and still get a compression top or bottom, you might actually wanna check Dillard's, or even a place like Ross or Marshalls. I have found them there before very cheap and usually in the bra and underwear departments.

Thanks foxgirl. Do you have a link to where you got your compression suit for $50?

Hi there - I'd like to see what it's like wearing one all day, but all of the body suits I've found would require me to completely undress to take a nature break...

I actually bought a body shaper but found the little slit a bit scary... how the heck am I supposed to work with that?

Thanks!

Bloomin!! Your post made me LOL. I too bought the undergarmet with the little slit (I think it was a Spanx suit) and my hubby said OMG what kind of porn thing is this?!?! LOL I was like ummm.. it isn't for THAT, it is for using the restroom without taking the whole darn thing off. His reply, well wouldn't that be messy seeing how you guys can't really "direct" the flow! LMAO hahahahah! Too funny. So I have the comp garmet, but i do take it all the way off if I need to use the restroom - unless I am in a hurry.

Oh and I got mine from Lane Bryant but I also bought some Kohl's comp garmets - much cheaper than LB's.

BTW

How long after you are Sleeved can you wear a compression garmet?!?

You could start with something like this:

http://www.6pm.com/n...ing-white-black

I have one of those and they are fairly firm around the belly and actually have a fairly nice top bra section. Not enough to hold me in a full run, but for a lot of lesser impact exercise, this is actually enough to hold me in. It is long enough so it doesn't roll up (on me at least). The price is definitely right to just give it a try, worst case scenario you bought a summer top :-)

I actually have a similar issue with my thighs. They don't clap but I really wanted something to keep my held together tightly. I found these here to be perfect!

http://www.zappos.co...ion-short-black (I fit in an XL)

http://www.zappos.co...ion-short-black (these are the plus sizes that are also 1.5 inches longer)

They are not too long but they cover what I consider my problem areas (thighs and a$) and they give a really tight hold without being uncomfortable. They do not roll up or pull down. Not any of the other compression shorts I tried (ie. Nike, Under Armour, New Balance) offered even remotely the same stability.

I just finished my first 5k, so I think I totally know how you feel :-)

girdle or spandex tights.

So basically a belly bra!

BTW the surgical births aren't responsible for that flap-they put the scar there to hide it cause its in a natural crease. I hear that all the time but I work with pregnant and postpartum women and, except for the scar, their (our) bellies look the same.

God, how on earth do you exercise in a whole body compression garment? That looks super hot and uncomfortable!!

I agree go to Ross or Marshall or TJ Maxx and check the underwear department for some bike short type support garment. I also have an exercise tank that is tight that I wear on top under a tshirt. Just seems cooler than a whole body thingy.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
