Had my initial consultation

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I had my initial consult with Dr Trace Curry in Cincy last wednesday. Met the crew of people and now doing the dreaded insurance wait. Not sure if they will take my older physician monitored weight loss program so might have to do that again. If not, then it's just finding out how much they cover and how much i need to pay. Wish me luck!

Gayle

Hello Gayle!

I'm Leslie. Dr. Curry is doing my sleeve six weeks from tomorrow! I really like him and all of his staff. If anyone can help you through the insurance stuff, it will be them! Best of luck on your journey!

Hey Leslie! Glad to meet you. Can you tell me how far out they had to book you after you got all your "ducks in a row"? I forgot to ask when they were booking out. Like does it usually take then weeks/months to get you in ?

Let me know your story!

It really depends on your insurance. Mine (Anthem) preferred the surgery be done at Jewish and they would pay more if I had it there. Since I did opt for Jewish, it took alittle longer. However, I had to be sure and schedule what worked best with my crazy work schedule too. I got my date at the end of April. They can get you in much faster at Journeylite but I wasn't willing to pay the extra $2500... I'll just let my insurance do that. I figured I have been fat this long, alittle longer won't kill me! I promise the time flies from when you get the surgery date. The insurance approval seems to drag though!

Blessings,

Leslie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
