But i went from 278 surgery day to 266 when i was hospitalized 5days post op to 259ish 9 days post op!!! WOW. I was just wondering how other people felt about their initial weight loss especially when im on this liquid diet. ONce i incorporate food will things change alot?

I weighed myself 3 days prior, was 227. Day of I was 223. i went to my moms this afternoon and was 214. I look at that as 9-10 lbs. I am on day 6 and am pretty happy with that amount. Except for the re-hospitalization. congrats!!

Hello: I have yet to have my surgery scheduled; however I am wondering why you were re-hospitalized. Hopefully, you are doing well.

Hello Funnylady,

I went back because i was very weak, lots of diarrhea and some vomiting. They said i was dehydrated but everything else was cool. So they gave me plenty fluids and sent me home.

Wow that is awesome! Did you also do liquids pre-op? Congrats!

I am down 11 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks and pleased with that as it combines with 18 pounds pre-op.

Wow! You guys are so lucky! Im 4 months out and ive only lost 27 pounds total. However I weighed 197 at the time of surgery, so I'm considered a light weight and supposedly will lose slower.

@ mbridgeman- you are correct. You will lose weight alot slower because you have less weight to lose. Thanks to everyone else. I only did liquid diet the day before surgery. But my weight loss was from the day of surgery and the 8th day. Now im a little more than 20 lbs lost in less than 2 weeks. 278 to 255. But im sure it will slow down. Im just afraid that i will not get enough fluids in my system because i keep forgetting to eat.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
