7 month surgeversary

Recommended Posts

I am about 7 months, 1 week out from surgery. Wow, time sure does fly! I was in Hawaii during my 7 month post op date, so here is my update.

I am going to attach some pics from Hawaii. I did so many things I know I couldn't have done at my higest weight. I fit in a plane seat! And most of the time, had lots of extra seatbelt. I hiked thru a rainforest, swam in the ocean, and walked to stores and on the beach. We were on the 4th floor of a condo complex, and I took the steps most of the time :) I had a great time! I was so scared I was going to gain, but I actually lost!!!! Before I left, my lowest weight was 250 pounds. Before vacation, I got up to 254!!! UGH!! I thought for sure I gained while in Hawaii, and was scared to weigh when I got back. I thought it was gonna say 260. I stepped on the scale and BAM, it was down to 252! Woohoo! The next day.... 250.

I have been home almost a week, and I am down to 246! WTH!!! I am not complaining, but wow, the weight is starting to come off again. I have been losing slowly, and staying the same for weeks, but thats mostly my fault. I was eating pretty bad! Now, I am trying to eat healthy things, and trying to mostly eat organic, natural stuff. My fav thing right now is to eat organic vanilla yogurt, with strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries, with some organic plain granola on top! YUM!. Or I make a smoothie with the berries, yogurt and organic fat free milk. For Breakfast I love a banana with some granola. And lunch I love the "everything" bagel thins, with low sodium turkey and a slice of cheese. I am not worrying about carbs, just eating fruits, veggies, and of course, still chicken and turkey. I am eating 1400-1800 calories a day, and losing like a pound a day this week since I started this. Maybe this is what my body needs. I am just going to do this until I stop losing. I feel pretty awesome. I went shopping today and fit into size 16's!!!! WOW! They are super tight, but omg, I could zip them! I think I will be in them soon! And, I tried a 2X top, and it was too big!! I got the 1X. I could probably wear a misses XL but my arms wont go away!

I am going to start the couch to 5K program. Not sure if I will ever do a 5K, just like how it tells you what to do each day. I just need to exercise, and I want to be able to run one day. THANKS DIVA!!!! :)

So, I am down to 246 today. My offical weigh in days are mondays, but I still weigh multiple times a day. I really need to stop that!

In a little over 7 months, I have lost a total of 123 pounds!!! Wooohoooo! My next mini goal is to lose a total of 150 pounds. I have 82 more pounds to lose to goal!

Pictures from left to right: Bamboo forest, my mom and I, me by a waterfall, me hiking, me and my mom in a cave, me @ a luau in my new jean skort, me at blackrock, modeling my new 1X shirt and super tight 16's, back view, and my shrinking booty, LOL! If you want to see any of these pictures in a larger view, you can find them here:

Sounds awesome! Way to go! The second picture in the top row is very similar to one that I took when I went to Hawaii 5 years ago with my sister - although it didn't contain any people (I wanted the nature shot). :)

Keep up the good work.

WOW!!! You look fabulous! and you look like you really enjoyed yourself on your trip! I read another post about someone who lost weight with a trip to Hawaii.

I think you are very inspirational! Can you tell me if you've ever had stalls? And if so, how did you break them. That's what I'm dealing with now. I'm a month out and postop have lost 25, but most of that was in the first 2 weeks. Just feeling depressed about it. :P

Slow loser??? 123 lbs in 7 months don't really sound like a slow loss to me!!! You look great in the pics. And the places you must have seen there! So jealous!

I am happy you enjoyed it, that's my next destination in the USA (maybe next year, maybe not, but soon enough)!

Congratulations!

You look radiant Sarah! I am so happy that you had a trip of a lifetime and weren't limited by the size of your body. You look fantastic and yay to moving down on the scale. I just got back from a week long vacation and weighed the same as I did before I left and the same as the last 3 freaking weeks! Aaargh! Could you send some magic-break-the-stall-fairy-dust my way?

Thanks! ;)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
