How will my legs look?

Recommended Posts

Okay, I haven't had surgery yet but have a silly question. I'm a pair shaped person with big legs. In the past when I'd lose, I'd lose up top first...boobs always seem to go away the fastest. My bottom half, mainly my legs never seemed to thin down as much. In fact, I always could have stood to lose a little more in the legs only. Is there anyone else out there that has had the same problem and did this surgery/diet with high protiens change the way you lost on your legs?

I have been losing from the top down, and most people at my support group have lost from the top down also. I WISH that my lower abdomen and legs were looking smaller, but they all say it will come. I hate my legs and it seems like they are the same size as before I started. I have lost 71 pounds and it is mostly all on top. I used to have really nice skinny legs and arms, even when I was bigger, but the past 5 years my arms and legs have gotten HUGE and I hate it. I also alway had a flat butt, and now my butt sticks out like a shelf. I will be glad when I start losing in those area's also. I don;t think you can do anything do direct where you want your weight to come from. It will just do what it wants.

Tough but honest answer - I'm shaped just like you, and like you I lose top down. Eventually I lose weight in the legs, but the one time I really saw huge progress more quickly in my legs was when I walked and hiked and biked and, leg intensive things like that. So I'm starting that early (I'm 3 weeks out) and will move to a little resistance especially for my upper body when I'm off lifting restriction.

So yeah, the sleeve won't change how you lose. But a lot of lower body moving exercise will help you see progress at the bottom faster.

Welcome to the Pear Family!! LOL :)

Yes I'm a pear. Yes I lost top down first. Yes I look super skinny on top now and normal on the bottom!! I'll tell you how, I workout the bottom half of my body WAY more than the top. I do the elliptical without using the handles, I run and walk, I do the spinner - all bottom workouts.

I think it's helping! Check out my photo album, it will give you an idea on how my pear shape melted away. Good luck!!

:rolleyes:Thank you all for your responses! I'm totally okay with that. I was just curious! I just want to be healthier and happier but it would be nice to see my knee caps too at some point. I will take whatever the good Lord gives me! :D

I am heavy on the bottom too. So far I am losing lots of inches around my waist and hips. My thighs and calfs are super heavy. I hate them. I haven't worn shorts since I was a kid. Forget skirts. I feel so anti-feminine. I wish I could wear a skirt and go out shopping or shorts in the summer. I am looking forward to losing from there... soon hopefully... please!!! LOL

I'm a pear shape too -- initially lost on the top (like always) -- but have since lost my butt (I *had* a bubble butt before) -- now it's flat (whaa!) -- my legs look like they melted (literally) because of the skin. Don't think I'll ever wear short skirts again. sigh. But my arms look pretty good (no huge bat wings) -- my stomach is horrible (must have at least 10 lbs of skin there) - another sigh. BUT I would do again in a heartbeat!! (Today I am wearing a size 8 pencil skirt -- used to be in a TIGHT size 24). You couldn't hold me back from having this surgery -- best thing I ever did! :D

I am definitely pear shaped and in the past have lost my stomach first, then boobs, then minimal on the legs. Since surgery I have lost weight SOOOOO differently!!! I still have size D boobs (started with a DD) after nearly 70 lbs. And I am extremely pleased with how my thighs have shrunk. I dont know if its Protein or what but I love it! (oh and my backfat is ALMOST gone! Can't wait for that day! lol)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
