Am I overdrinking?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if I'm overdoing it here. I can down 20oz H2O in about 30min to an hour but I'm worried about my Protein Shakes. I've been drinking Atkins shakes which are premixed and I'd say about a bit thicker than milk. I had 8oz for Breakfast everything else I have I do in 4 oz increments. Being that it's thicker than my usual Water I'm just concerned about it not going down as quick but 8oz this morning and I felt okay. Prethanks to the people helping me with my paranoia I really want this to work! ^_^

I had that same concern, I can drink pretty easily. As long as your pylorus isn't closing (it's at the bottom of your stomach and closes when it's full of food to liquify things in preparation for release to the stomach.

But when I went on mushies this week, I can only eat about 1/4 cup or 2 oz at my best, and usually not even that. So it doesn't seem to be associated with bad restriction.

If you're not feeling full or uncomfortable, you're probably not stretching anything. A word of warning though: I found one Protein drink - powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup - that my body treats like food. If I drink it fast, WHAM!

Water goes down way easier for me too. I'm 24 days out, I can take like 4 large swallows of water or like consistancy. shakes etc...one at a time...with time between. You're not alone!

I think you are okay. I often have the Atkins Protein shake for Breakfast too (love that Royale Chocolate) and I find it goes down like Water. I drink the whole 8 oz during the time I am getting ready for work...over an hour usually. I keep a glass of Water with me except when eating and try to drink, drink, drink!

I have VERY good restriction when I eat soft foods though. Went out for Mexican food with hubby last night and at 1/2 of a chicken enchilada and that was eating just the filling...no tortilla wrapper. Probably no more that 2 or 3 tablespoons for food.< /p>

Ty guys very good to know I'm not alone. I actually sat and paid attention today at lunch (refried Beans thinned with beef broth, ff cheese shreds and ff sour cream) and I could feel almost every swallow. 3 oz in and I had to throw away the fourth I was stuffed. My mom was so sweet to pay for this surgery and it cost so much I'm just a bit paranoid to mess anything up. Thx again! <3 this site ^_^

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
