I had my sleeve April 26, 2011. I am very excited for this process. My highest weight was 271.8. I was placed on a two week liquid Protein diet for two weeks before my surgery. I lost 10 pounds in that 2 weeks. Should have been more but after the first few days, I ate a salad once a day. I spent two nights in the hospital. First night was pretty bad. Surgery went great but I was vomiting all night long. Felt better the next day. Up and walking with no problems. Now I just hope that I don't mess up my new stomach. I'm scared. I'm glad I found this website so I can see what others are going through and what to expect. My surgery was at Fort Gordon, Ga. Eisenhower hospital. Dr. Choi. He and his surgical team were awsome.

Congrats on your surgery. Just do what the doctor tells you to do and I'm sure everything will be fine. My date is 5/13. Today is my 2nd day of my 14 liquid diet. Keep us posted on your progress.:D

I had my sleeve surgery the same day. Sorry to hear that you were vomiting. I was lucky and didn't vomit at all. I do understand the scared of the new stomach stuff. I don't want to invite problems by NOT paying attention. I am so looking forward to being out a little farther and having a better understanding of this new relationship with my stomach. For years it seemed to me as if I was disconnected from it, and now that it's up REAL close and personal it's kinda freakin' me out. Haven't "heard/understood" it for so long, I'm worried that we don't even speak the same language! (And whatever language I come up with it'll be some time before I'm fluent in my "tummy speak"....) Rest up and take care of yourself, the best part is just around the corner.....

Congrats to you! I was sleeved on the 25th and was out of it until early Wed morning. I'm tolerating liquids without a problem but can't get any Proteins in for now. I lost 13 lbs pre- op and have my f/u with my surgeon on Tuesday. Looking forward to sharing our successes!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
