Can I take all vitamins in liquid form?

Recommended Posts

i cannot tolerate chewable vitamins. i vomit them up because of the gross taste, and i take my nausea pill; i think it's just the taste/consistency of the pills.< /p>

My doctor told me I need to take calcium citrate, Multivitamin, Vitamin D, and B12. The vit. D and B12 i have no problem with (pill form i swallow).

would it be ok for me to just take the other Vitamins in pill form or liquid form? i tried contacting my doctors office, but it's not an emergency and i have a post op appt. on monday so i will ask this question but i just wanted to know how you others take your vitamins.

it's seems ok that i take pill form of other vitamins (but some are too big to swallow i feel); if not i can liquid it.

thanks in advance

Hi Bryn;

How long have you been sleeved? I too could not stand Vitamins for quite a while. Yes, you can get liquid forms of Vitamins and I have seen them at Walmart. Be sure to make sure you are taking the right # of pills and check out that it meets guidelines of what you surgeon suggested. But, I tried Flinstones Complete for the first month - surgeon told me no vitamins for first week and then I had to crush Flinstones.< /p>

Since I have some, I still choke down the Barriatic Adv. Vitamins. Good product but the taste...yuck.

Hi and thanks for the response. I've been sleeved for 6 days now. I'm gonna try taking them again today to see how my tummy handles them til i see the doc tomorrow.

thanks :)

I haven't been sleeved yet but I've chosen and aquired all my Vitamins and one of the things I'm going to take (at least for the first month), is a liquid multi-Vitamin called Reviva. You take 2Tbsp/day and it's a pretty decent Multi-Vitamin. It doesn't have Iron, but that's okay because you should be taking Iron separately (so it doesn't bind with other minerals and prevent absorption).

Reviva also makes a liquid calcium citrate. It's the same deal, 2Tbsp/day for 1000MG (I have a Calcium chew for the other 500mg you need in a day) but it's delicious! it tastes like blueberry yogurt.

I got both from costco for $18 each. 32 doses per bottle. I don't know where else they're available.

Congrats on your new sleeve and WOW 6 days out and your doctor allows you to take pills? My doc wouldn't let me take a pill until I was at least 6 weeks out.

I too had a hard time with multi-vitamins! I tried chewable wafers, liquids and powders and they all pretty much made me gag. But I did find a chewable that works great for me and it's Flinstones Complete (I take 2 with no problems).

Good luck Bryn!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
