Anyone banded in Sarnia???

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I just saw on another board someone mention that it was possible to be banded in Sarnia....the Bluewater Clinic?

It's closer to my city than Toronto, and was wondering if anyone here knows anything.:hungry:

I just looked that up. I've nevvvvver heard of that guy or that clinic at all. I'm sure he's fab and all, but I chose my surgeon because I heard from his patients, and was able to talk to them (as well as for other reasons, of course).

This Dr. Sanjeev Kaila (the guy from the bluewater place) is a plastic surgeon. I felt better knowing that my guy was a "surgeon" surgeon.

Also, you're lucky that you're "ONLY" 3 hours from Toronto. Don't chose your surgeon based on distance. There's lots of us who had to or have to fly across the country for this, and gladly do so, knowing that our surgeons are among the best. :)

Any idea how much this other guy charges?

Mandi

Hi Argon,

I e-mailed them and here's what they said:

" The procedure is performed by Dr. Taylor and Dr. Muhunthan who are general surgeons in town. The approximate cost of the procedure is $15,000 which is in Canadian funds. This cost includes any applicable taxes, anaesthetic fee, surgical fee, etc. Your first fill is complimentary however each fill afterwards is $100 each.

We offer complimentary consultation appointments here at the Blue Water Surgical Centre. I recommend that you contact me at your convenience at the clinic at (519)336-1555 or again by email. I would be happy to schedule a consultation appointment for you. "

I googled the docs and didn't get much, so I have to agree with you that Toronto is probably the sensible option as it sounds like these docs don't specialize in bariatric surgery. Also, noone here seems to have had it done there either!

Interesting... could you email them back and ask how many of the 'procedures' they have performed, and how long they've been doing it? Just curious!

Guess it's good at least that it's not the plastic surgeon doing it! LOL

But ... pssshh.... same price, and you get dr's you've actually heard of (Cobourn/Mumford or Joffe/Yau), and you get fills for life. I think that's the better deal! :)

So how was your Care? How much have you lost...?

How many fills have you had so far, and are you at your "sweet spot" yet?

I located this thread because I was looking for other Sarnia lapbanders.

They perform alot of Lap Band surgeries at the Bluewater Clinic.

I was banded in June 07. I have lost 30 lbs thus far.

I've had 4 fills. I have just now hit my sweet spot. I'm hoping the pounds start coming off a little easier now. :)

Keep in mind, the sweet spot is a moving target, once you lose a bunch of weight, you'll probably find you're "looser" and need to start getting fills again.

I was banded in Sarnia by Dr. Joffe on Saturday, December 15th 2007. I'm still on clear fluids and working with the nutritionist. The procedure went well and all the people were great. If you want/need more info just email me.

Hi there, I had wondered what happened to him.. as he used to be at TLBC in Toronto.

I am glad that you had him as your surgeon, as he has a very good reputaion!!! and has done many, many bands.

Keep to your staged reintro to foods, and do everything they tell you...welcome to BAND LAND!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
