Any Banded Vegetarians out there?

Recommended Posts

I am going to be banded August 8.:clap2: I just don’t know what I will be able to eat when I am allowed solids again. I am a big Pasta eater. Can some one give me some ideas?

Thanks

I'm vegetarian, but lacto ovo and I have no problem at all getting in my Proteins. I start my day with a high Protein yogurt (Total Yogurt has 13 grams) and 1/2 serving of Kashi (7 more grams). Sometimes if I'm not in the mood for yogurt, I have cottage cheese, or even an egg, with the Kashi instead.

For lunch, I often have a morninstar soy patty (150 cals, 9 protein) with whatever veggie I cooked that week (this week is roasted red peppers stuffed with spinach, couscous and just a touch of feta -- 120 cals and 5 g protein).

I eat a fruit or veggie for a snack around 4:30, or sometimes a piece of string cheese.< /p>

dinner is often a tofu stirfry that runs about 15 g Protein and 300 cals.

I usually hit 900-1100 cals (usually on the low end of that) and 60ish g protein.

I'd love to exchange vegetarian recipes with you, particularly high protein, low cal main meals!

Good luck with your journey.

Scrambled Tofu

In large skillet, mix well:

1/4 c. oil

2 T. onion powder

2 T. soy sauce

1/2 t. tumeric

2 pounds mashed tofu (2 blocks)

Cook 10-15 minutes until well heated and crispy on the bottom. Serve as you would scrambled eggs.

My favorite way to use is to take tostado shells and spread with mashed avocado, then add the scrambled tofu and salsa. Yummy! The scrambled tofu also works well in place of Beans in tacos.

Here's another family favorite that's a meat loaf like texture:

Cottage cheese Roast

2 eggs

1/8 c. soy sauce

24 oz. carton cottage cheese

1/2 c. pecans or walnuts, ground or chopped

1 1/2 t. onion powder

4 cups Rice Krispies or Special K

In a bowl beat eggs. Add soy sauce, cottage cheese, onion powder and nuts. Mix well. Stir in Cereal until well mixed. Pack into an 8-inch square pan and bake 45-50 minutes at 350 degrees until browned and firm.

My kids love this, so I usually double the recipe. It's easy to take for lunches, so I make it frequently. High in Protein with the eggs, cottge cheese, and nuts.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
