NERVOUS!!! NERVOUS!!! NERVOUS!!!

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is my big day and I'm soooo NERVOUS!

I'm NERVOUS about having a filter put in my neck, about not being able to have surgery (just recovered from the flu), and of course about something going wrong. I've done well on the pre-op diet- I've lost about 55 pounds in the last few months- so I think my liver will be smaller, which used to be a concern of mine. I'm also NERVOUS that my doc will have to do open instead of laproscopic or will have to do a bypass instead of a sleeve (both of which she said are small possibilities). I know I should stop freakin' out but it's so hard!!! :(

Take a deep breath, and another...and another. The risk of complications is very small and I am sure you will be fine no matter what happens. Let us know!

I was just like you one week ago today, so nervous. It is always scary to have surgery, but as Foxbins said, the risks are very small. You will do great. You are on your way!!!smile.gif

BTW, what is a neck filter?

Maybe I shouldn't call it a neck filter. But they put it in a vein in the neck. It's called a vena cava filter and it helps prevent blood clots.

Oh, ok. Well see, that's just one less thing to be worried about!!biggrin.gif

Also, congrats on the excellent weight loss you have already accomplished before your surgery. 55 pounds that will never come back!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
