NUT confused me - when we eat what

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I met with the nutritionist for my surgeon yesterday, and was told that Clear liquids were only the day of the surgery, pureed foods (not sure if this would be blended or mushies?) were days 2 - 14, and starting solid foods after two weeks;

That seems quite different from what I have read others doing; am I misunderstanding, have things changed, or is this unusual?

Thanks,

Dragon

At first Eustace thought it would be a simple task as he easily and painlessly scraped and shed his dragon skin. But soon he discovers that a new one has quickly taken its place. That’s when Aslan graciously offers to take the scales off for him. Thought it is a painful process, the end result is the healing, restoration, and transformation of Eustace into a completely different person.

There seems to be a lot of variety on the post-surgery diet. Yours seems similiar to mine.

Mine was solid foods from day four, so there is wide variety. I've been on "real" food for over a week now -- so far, so good!

They vary as to each surgeon. Mine has me on clears for 10 days, full liquids 10 days mushies 2 -3 weeks and then slowly introduce regular food. I am so close to the mushies stage and am excited. Best to follow your doctors plan.

At my seminar, it was suggested that you do 10-14 day Clear Liquids - as that is how the Dr limits his leak #'s.

If I can manage the full 14 days of clear liquids, I am all for it if it limits my chance of leaks.

:)

I did 10 day of clears, 10 days of full liquids, 10 days of mushies, then slowly going back to full foods. I took my time with it, and to be honest there's no way I could have done puree'd foods on day 3. I could bare sip Water...

No rush, take your time. I actually didn't get back to a full solid food eating plan again until almost 3 months out. There are even some foods now I can't tolerate yet and I'm one week shy of 6 months out.

Definitely follow your surgeon's plans, to all who may be reading this.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
