5 month post-op update

Recommended Posts

Just a quick update. I haven't been losing as quickly, but I will take whatever I can get! Still haven't gotten back to exercising. That is on my "to do" list :) I did had a good week this week, and lost 5 pounds! So, I am now at a total of 111 pounds!! I lost 13 of that the 2 weeks before surgery, so 98 since my date of surgery. I am finally in the 250's, weighed in at 258!!! It seems like this journey is just flying by. I remember posting on here when I was all excited to break the 300's! This is so exciting and I am just trying to enjoy the ride. I am getting excited about a vacation to Hawaii in a few months! It would have been miserable going there at 369 pounds! I am still a big girl, but I know I will fit much better into a plane seat at this weight. I haven't had a vacation in 6 years, so I am so ready for this!

Congratulations!!! Hawaii sounds like a wonderful place to go. I dream of fitting into a plane seat without being uncomfortable or having to use a seat belt extender. I hope to follow in your footsteps with the weightloss.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
