So..it was on here that I was able to talk to people and find out the best information to have my surgery..going to Mexico was scary and i did not know what would happen...they picked me up at the airport and drove me to the hospital. The staff and doctors were so kind and caring...and I had my surgery the very night I flew in. I had NO pain! and was out of the hospital in 2 days. In fact I felt so good I even sent time site seeing in S.D. California because I flew home...It is 2 weeks and I'm down 20 pounds, have great energy and no complications....my entire surgery cost 5,500....this is the start of my new life and I'm happy that I chose the super Sleeve.

Raven,

I am heading down there in a couple of weeks and wasn't scared until I purchased the plane tickets, now it just seems so real. Omar was telling how they just had a patient that felt so good that she went site-seeing in SD I am assuming it must have been you. I can't believe you have lost so much so fast, I hope I have the same results. Good luck and keep up the good work, I'm sure it can't be easy.

Hi Raven,

I am a little confused. I had heard the super sleeve was something other than a plication surgery. Did you have part of your stomach removed or did you have it folded and stitched. I am having surgery next year, but I am so confused over which surgery to have. I cannot decide between the sleeve or plication. The sleeve has been used for longer and therefore the long-term information is more reliable. The plication sounds easier and safer, but no one really knows what will happen 10 years down the road with the stitches or the stomach tissue. What made you decide on the surgery you had?

Super sleeve and plication are one and the same.

People seem to loose ALOT of weight FAST with the sleeve, the one where they cut out your stomach. I had plication done and I am losing weight and feel fabulous, but I think if I had the sleeve I would be loosing faster. I had my surgery January 10th, I was 272lbs and a size 22/24 jean. Today I am 238 and a size 16 jean. My surgeon was Dr. Abril in Mexicali and he performs ALL of the different weight loss surgeries. If you want any information let me know. Good luck.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to. And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed. I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
