Breathing tubes???? We had breathing tubes. LOL. Seriously I do not remember a breathing tube at all. So no pain on that account. Yes dry mouth which they gave me ice chips for later that nite. No gas pain either. The only think that was a slight concern for me was when I was in the recovery room my temperature was below normal and they keep me a little longer than the other patients. Other patients were being wheeled out left and right. I knew something was not right then so I asked the nurse and that's when she told me my was temperture was below normal and I had to stay in recovery until it was. It took about a 1/2 hr. to 45 min. Then I was good to go to my room.

Good luck and stay positive. YOU WILL LOVE YOUR SLEEVE !!!! :D

I don’t remember one thing between me lying down on the table and telling them that I have kids so make sure I wake up and the moment when they tapped me and told me it was over and time to move to another bed.

The pain is the gas. Your tummy will be inflated to make the surgery easier and the gas that is used for the inflation takes its time coming out. Other than that, tomorrow is the first day of your new life.

Congratulations. J

I had no throat pain or trouble breathing that I recall. I was very diligent about doing my breathing exercises after surgery, and crunched on ice chips all the time. The pain from the surgery was fairly bad, but I asked for pain medication at the first hint of pain and that took care of it pretty well for me. I also stayed on my pain medication at home for two weeks (because I am a wimp and hate pain of any kind). That helped me walk without much pain, which helped in my healing. The biggest advice I can offer is to move around as much as you can, which increases circulation and that aids in healing.

Best of luck to you!! You will be amazed at the results, I know I have been

Welllll...the worst part for me was nausea but I was throwing up brown blood. I slacked off the nausea medication and let it roll...and once it was all out the nausea stopped. Other than that I think I was very typical recovery. I felt like the anesthesia was just too much for me - very groggy. Best thing is sleep it off. Your bowels may be asleep longer than the rest of you...but eventually they perk up.

It was not painful exactly to me. It was a bit scarey, but not overwhelming. Just very different as I had not experienced general anesthesia before.

You'll do great.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
