My "New Life " on the way...

Recommended Posts

My name is Johnny, I am scheduled for Gastric Sleeve Plication Feb. 14th with Dr. Corvala in Tijuana . I will be honest, I scared to death.

I am 50 years old and weigh 367lbs. So either I do this or I stand a good chance at dieing soon. I have been married 30 years have two sons , 17 and 23. I want to see my grand kids , but most of all I want to wear "normal clothes" sit in a booth and feel good about myself again. I have been overweight for 15 years. I work with the public so this has made a huge impact on my life. I plan to have a whole new life at 51. I will keep you updated as the story goes..Johnny

JohnnyBoy, congrats on the beginning of a new life! It's never to late to change your life. I'm 53 and just celebrated my 1 year surgery anniversary. I struggled with obesity most of my life, well from age 20 on. So 30 years of being fat took its toll on my body. This surgery changed my life. No more meds for High cholestrol, high blood pressure, joint pain, and no more cpap for breathing at night. It is well worth the journey. I wish you much success and a speedy recovery from surgery.

Welcome Johhny, we are almost "twins". I'm going to be 50 in a few weeks and was about 375 lbs when I was sleeved 12/6/10. I'm down almost 75 pounds in less than 2 months. It has its difficult times but anything is better than being an obese invalid with high blood pressure , pre-diabetes feeling crappy all the time.

I wish you good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
