I've been eating Greek yogurt for so long

Hey does these Sf syrups taste good.. I got some hershey's sg Syrup and it really taste bad..

These kind of "syrups" are more like "flavoring" than actual syrup (they are clear and the consistency of Water, or extract flavoring. Actually that is a good way to describe them, they are like extracts, that you can add to anything to give it flavor and sweetness. (Except they are in big bottles and you use more of them that you would if it were just an extract.)

Frankly I'm not shocked that Hershey's SF (I'm assuming that is what you are talking about) syrup is nasty. When manufacturer's take out anything (fat, sugar, salt) they have to add more of something else to mask the "missing" flavor.

Look in the coffee section of your grocery store and you might find the Torani or Davinci SF syrups.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give those brands a try. I know they are so good for us, it would be a shame not to try. :)

Choboni (sp?) is so smooth and creamy it is like a dessert. I am really glad more stores are starting to carry it and the price seems to be coming down.

As far as the syrups go, my favorite has to be raspberry. It's good to put in Protein shakes too. Some of the flavors really don't taste very much like what they are supposed to taste like. It's definitely trial and error with the sf syrups.

awesome, thanks! I assume they are SF?

Davinci and Torani are the brands that seem to be most popular. You can find them at Sam's club. I think you can find them at other retailers.

I already have one kiddo liking the Fage, just need to work on kiddo #2 (aka the picky sister). It's going to be a crazy yogurt bill around here on grocery day once hubby gets sleeved in March!

LOL - that made me laugh out loud in the morning - good way to start this supposed snowmaggedon day!

And on a side note, Greek yogurt with a little fat is sooooooo much better. Unfortunately, here they only have Fage with 2%, all the rest is 0%. And the calories are pretty much the same!

As for Greek yogurt in general, the Protein is a little overrated. I mean, as far as dairy products go, it has a lot of Protein, but in general it's not that much.

I like to think of foods with a "protein to calorie ratio" and Greek yogurt is just so-so. I posted a list of my favorites here: http://www.bananatummy.com/2011/01/best-protein-foods/

You can use the hershey in the blender w/ choc whey powder, ice, and milk. I add PB, then you are getting a little extra choc flavor than just the powder can give.

Oh, I wished I ordered raspberry. I just ordered last night, 5 bottles from Torani site. I got the basics for now, I think they were 7.85 a bottle and 7.85 shipping. At this point, not even one week out from surgery, I don't care, just want to try them, and can't really go out everywhere looking for them. Plus they had all flavors in one spot! If you like a certain flavor you can get a three pack for cheaper per bottle, but I am guessing that you don't go through them too quick. I got Choc, Van, PB, strawberry, and peach. I was thinking of mixing choc and PB flavor in the chobani and see what happens. I see they have choc chip cookie dough, but wonder if it would really taste like that.

You can get a no sugar added (not sugar free) pomegranate "molasses" at middle eastern stores that is sooo delicious on greek yogurt. It is just a concentrated pomegranate juice. You only need a few drops, and the flavor is POW! Right in the taste buds. Great in dressings too. Not too sweet at all, thick and full bodied with a little sour and a little bitter, like pomegranate.

I have tried them all, (and I usually buy according to what is on sale) but my all time fav has to be the Fage. LOVE IT. I've even tried the Kroger brand, blech, totally disgusting and not worthy of me even adding my SF Syrup to.

I agree. The Fage is the best by far! LOVE IT!

I think Fage greek yogurt is the best buy far. Love my Torani syrups! Rasberry and strawberry. Woodmands has the large bottles on sale for 6.19 right now and I lucked out and found a small bottle on clearance at Meijers for 2.00!

I find some things are way too sweet, too. I really like the Choboni's. I like this greek yogurt with a packet of Truvia and I also like putting it in my smoothies to up the Protein of them. I'm still in the pureed phase, but can definitely see using it in place of sour cream. (I'm 3 weeks out). Good luck with your girls! :)

Completely agree! When I lived in France, my doctor had me on a diet that included full-fat plain yogurt. While at first I found it sooooooo sour, I soon learned to love it. So refreshing and satisfying. The French often eat it for dessert!

I used to eat the single-serve plain Activa yogurts over there; I wish they'd sell more plain single-serve yogurt here, instead of that icky flavored stuff (which was also what I used to eat all the time!). The plain stuff is so good and can feel almost decadent.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
