Help....Please!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was wondering is there anybody out there that has Colitis, but was still able to get the Sleeve done? I have NO large intestine at all..but was wondering if anybody out there has similar health issues as me. I am concerned if I get this done that, if something happens and my Colitis and the sleeve don't get along...I am scared I might end up with a colostomy bag.

In also don't have a Thyroid at all and am Terrified of my hair falling out and NOT coming back. I know the hair lose is an issue...and that frightens me too...being I don't have a lot to begin with.

Please help with any advice you can

Thank You!!

All I know is I have a thyroid that does not work at all and my hair loss was maybe 25-30% but it immediately grew back in. I have stayed on my Armour faithfully and not been a god Vitamin taker (doing better though).

When I lose the hair you are talking about bc of thyroid, ewwww I hate that too. That happened in my 20's. Never again, that is an awful Hair loss - hard to get back. I did not take thyroid meds for 2 years and also I took deprovera about this same time which totally screwed up my hormones for 2 years (one shot did this). I would never do that again - stopped ovulating, etc. Hair very thin on top. Had to go on BCP to get my cycle to ever start again. Had 2 babies after that so it all worked out and once I was pregnant all my hair came back, but still, seems like if you keep things stable with Thyroid that it wouldn't effect hair loss based on my experience.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
