Baby boy you have made a very important decision, but one I think you will love. Please update when you are able to. I would be very interested in knowing about the facility as I have a son who needs to lose about 70 pounds. I will be thinking and praying for you. :D

I was in the same boat! I'm now less than 24 hours post op and feeling as good as I should. Even yesterday I was a mess, but I feel much better now!

Best of Luck

You will have a rollercoaster of emotions. Please keep your thoughts on the long term results. Yes, there will be some tough moments in the beginning, but after a couple weeks, you will be so much better!! I am 19 days out and feel totally fine!!!! Everytime you get nervous, just visualize something that you will be able to do, that your weight prevented you from doing before. That helped me soooo much. Good Luck and Congrats!!!

PS--Walk as much as you can after surgery and ice your stomach...It helps so much!

When your up to it tell me everything. I am also have surgery with Dr. Rod on 2/19. You don't hear as much about him on here as you do the Mexicali Drs. Although everything I have heard about him was good. Tell me about the facilities.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
