Today is MY Final Countdown Day! In ten days I will be sleeved. I decided I would post my story which is not much different than any of yours. My weight started after my first child (1991). I gained 50lbs a weighed just shy of 200lbs. I was mortified. I then told my self I must do whatever I could to lose weight and never be over 200lbs. Well after 5 more kids. I weigh over 200lbs. Throughout the years I have been on countless diets only gaining it back. I really never made my goal. Oh once I enjoyed it for a month when I got pregnant with my 3rd child. I have log in countless hours/miles during these past years. I am or was athletic so exercising was never a problem. After trying and trying and trying and not succeding the way I wanted it to be. I have been depressed because I couldnt take the craziness and the obession that I created. I gave it up, I threw in the towel. I felted no hope not one one little bit. It was a very dark time. I tried to just live as a heavy person, its not the worst thing in the world to struggle with. I have many other blessings in my life. I keep telling myself this but I couldnt shake the depression. All I know being overweight just doesnt feel right. These days I look at myself I dont know who I am. Maybe because I stopped looking. Right Now, I want to live and know and create me. I also want to create happy days for my family. My weight/food has taken the front seat for way to long. I never thought I would never have to turn to wls but now that I am, I am grateful that this tool is available for those of us who have given it all we got. May happy days be with you. Lora

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
