Recommended Posts

hey julie. i don't have an answer for you. i have the same question. i clicked on your thread to see the answers. i haven't gotten my first fill yet and am on solid foods now and the scales are no longer moving. It's frustrating. i hadn't done very well at keeping track of my calories so today I began to do that again just to see if that is the problem. i'll check back to see if anyone replies.

Hello girls,

I didnt have any problems with losing after on normal food. Actually I didnt lose for one week but that was entirely my fault cause I was eating way too much than I should have been (candy and stuff, I was on vacation lol).

That answer is partially up to you. The part that you have an impact on is your caloric input and output.

The other part of that answer is that there is not a set time until you begin to lose again.

My first 6 weeks after banding I did not make the best food choices every minute of every day, but I also didn't ever exceed my caloric intake goals (<1,000 calories / day) and I did not lose any weight.

We are all different and time will tell.

Thank you for the information. I am watching everything I eat and hopefully within the next couple weeks after my fill I'll be back on track.

The one thing I can suggest that helped me, and continues to make a difference in my weight loss (and I too am new at this!) is making sure I am drinking enough Water. I can watch my food intake and not cheat at all, but unless I take in my Fluid, the scale does not move. When I drink properly, I slowly start to drop. Someone on LBT here, told me we have to have it to flush everything from our bodies. Nto sure of the exact reasons for it, but it might help you. Good Luck!

I found the first few days back on solids caused the scale to bounce up a little bit...which FREAKED me out. But don't worry - this is perfectly normal! The weight will start coming back down within a few days to a week....then you will really start your downward trend. If you are physically up to it, I would recommend starting your exercise about 5 - 6 weeks after your surgery. The exercise helped me to keep the scale numbers coming down. You'll notice that your body will hang on to weight and then all of the sudden drop a few pounds. It is frustrating *believe me, I struggle with it* but the more consistent you are with your exercise and constantly adjusting your calories *zigzag method*, the better you will make it through your plateaus. Hang in there!! You guys are in for a great journey!!!

What sort of exercise did you start doing to help things start moving? I've been stuck for well over 4 weeks now and its getting depressing! I'm trying to watch what I eat, and started walking on the treadmill last week -still nothing has changed.

I started working out at Curves and built up to being able to do 5 - 10 hours per week. At first, it was 1.5 hours per week and then I started to really push myself because I wanted to see what I could do. How realistic is it to keep up with that much working out and having a career/family? Very difficult. Curves says 1.5 - 2.0 hours per week is all you need to do to lose at a steady rate.

If you have not done it yet, look at your BMR and what it takes in calorie reduction to lose weight: http://www.thinnerself.com/files/calculator.htm

I stalled for about 5 weeks between my eating/food stages transition. Then had a week of the most amazing loss. And since I've pretty much levelled out and am losing somewhat regularly for the first time in my entire life.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
