Congrats - wishing you a great recovery with plenty of protein!

Good morning all. I am now 4 days post up. Not as bad as I expected. I've been walking 1/2 mile a day. I'm gonna shoot for a whole mile this morning. Still have drain until next Friday. Trying to get fluids in. Ujury chicken Protein has been awesome. 26 grams per 8 ounces. Herbal tea, lots of ice and Water has been my thing. I realized yesterday that I now hate sweets! The antibiotic meds are really sweet, don't like them. Heating pad has been wonderful. I pooted for the first time last night (TMI, BUT IT WAS AWESOME! Still sore in the abdomen but everyday it gets better. I hate the compression socks. now I can take them off all day and only put them on when I sleep. Uhhhmmmm I think that's it for now. Oh 10lbs down. 2 lbs from pre op and 8 lbs post op.

Hello Everyone - Ill be 4 weeks tomorrow His grace! Sleeve is doing better and more tolerant of food. I need help on some ideas for Protein in the mornings. I know I can do a Protein Shake. Ive also had soft scrambled egg but that was just ok and only 6 grams of protein. Now that Im on soft foods I really need to work on getting that protein in. Any ideas or favorites?

Also, I do feel myself getting jiggly - what sorts of exercise did you do at this stage to tighten up?

Thanks BP

Hi, I'm new to this site and guess what? I'm African American. I'm scheduled for the VSG on 6/30/14.I'm excited and so very nervous. I'm glad I came across this post. I'm interested in reading about the differences as well as the experiences we may have. Great post.

Hey AA fam, just checking in. Now 4 and 1/2 weeks out. No longer having any pain at all. Went back to work on week 3 which was a week after My drain was removed. Lost 30 lbs since surgery and it finally feels good to move again....I hate bed rest!

Lost some of the fullness in my boobs but still in a larger cup and lost some extra roundness in the butt but I'm faithful to my new nickname "squat monster" so I expect to still be plump in all the right places.

Now my final worry, maybe one of u sistas can help me with, with our hair, do we thin more or have bald spots? Any experiences yet? My girlfriend said her hair grew more...

I just need the trinity in tact, boobs, butt and hair...lol!! I do have the Biotin pills already...

Congrats KeeWee great job! I'm only 6 days post op feeling good. This is the first day I was able to get Protein in. I'm at 40 grams and counting. I can drink all liquids with no problem. I won't be on pureed until June 3. So I don't fully see my restriction yet but I'm sure I will. I dink A LOT of Water. 14 lbs down, things are going well. I get my drain removed on Friday. Can't wait. Keep up the good work.

I really worried about these awful scars. I had had surgery before no problem but this looks like beginning keloid. Can I expect the stitches still need to dissolve inside then it will go back? I do NOT like this and I may need skin surgery down the road. If you have not had keloids in the past why would it show up this time?

The scars will minimize greatly over time. I'm only one month out and u can barely see my scars except where the drain was removed and even that has changed but its not gone yet. My doc recommends Maderma I believe he said..not sure of the spelling.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
