Hey everyone =) Glad I found this forum. I'm having surgery on Aug 13th and my biggest worry is about my hair lol How messed up is that?

I'm loading up on liquid silica via Diatomaceous Earth mixed in water/juice now and will keep it as part of my Water intake. I am natural and have a massive amount of thick unruly hair. When I reach goal, I will probably cut it all off and start with a funky new do...short on the sides more on top...dyed honey blonde or cinnamon brown. Lol

Losing weight & ya hair can be a bit overwhelming. Lol but it's our bodies way of shedding...

I don't have to take any of my diabetes meds. Although it took a month after surgery to get everything regulated. But I still check my blood sugars. My hemoglobin A1c was @ 12% now its @ 6.5% which is in normal range. I feel great!

Has anyone noticed their skin clearing up once they had the surgery? I'm hoping once I have my surgery in October, my skin won't feel as dried, oily and not so many blemishes. Any info is helpful :-)

Yes, somewhat - I'm almost 5 weeks out and the increased Water intake is helping, I think.

My skin was very dry after surgery due to the lack of intake of fluids. I'm 5 months out and my skin is better than the first 2 months after surgery but I still have some issues with dry rough skin on my feet and I've never had that problem before.

Hi all I have another question for all my post-ops. I would like to know how has the surgery improve you blood pressure and or diabetes. Are you still taking meds? Have your meds been reduced please explain thank you!

I was taking metformin twice a day. I was sleeved on the 8th and took my last pill on the 7th. My fasting BS is now 80-88 routinely. Got 2 love that sleeve!

ShanRN that's not messed up at all! I have shoulder length hair and I was sleeved March 18, 2013 and I am losing hair daily and I usually get in 70 grams of Protein or more.. I try to not let it worry me but it does. Lately my hair has been very tangled after washing it and I can barely comb through it - I am going to get a touch up this Wednesday and If the touch up doesn't help with the tangles I'm thinking that I have two choices - cut it off or braids. I didn't want to cut it because I cut it really short last summer and just grew it out. When I have to detangle it after washing it I lose a handful of hair every time!

It has been a blessing that I have been off diabetic meds since my two week pre op and blood pressure meds all four since day of surgery! Cholesterol meds too and sleep apnea machine.

I just wanted to share one of the best feelings I experienced yesterday with my 7 year old daughter since surgery..We were in a clothing store and my daughter said "mommy you should try this on...it is so pretty for you.." I looked at the size (16) and told her mommy can't fit into that. She told me just put it on and I did. Amazed to my surprise it fit!!!! I was in a size 24 in March before the surgery. I have not been in a 16 in over 17 years. That evening I did not Celebrate with food like I used to do before surgery, but with exercise. One of the best feelings in the world!

Yay!!! I am so happy for you and your success. You just keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!

I work 12am-8am...so feel free to chat with...

What a wonderful life...

I am happy for you and I work that same schedule. I am hoping for a date in August so I can use my vacation time but the bad part is our year ends June 30th and the year starts July 1st. So I have about 9 1/2 days left and then nothing until next year. But I am really excited for everyone that is getting ready to make the change. :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
