Hi all! My surgery is on 12/15 with Dr. Alexander in Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas, TX! Im having a lap-band revision. i never wanted it in the first place and its been hell ever since...Everyone was making a big deal about 12/12/12, but for me, it was the last day of being the fat girl. My Dr only has a two day pre-op diet which I was fine with, lol! It seems there are some Dallas folks around here, so if you guys ever want to get together, please let me know.

Hey Everyone,

Im a 25 AA female on my WLS journey. Im so glad I found this thread on the forum, because it addressed a lot of concerns I have been having. I just finished up my pre-opt testing, and Psy evalution this week, along with my diet. My PCP will fax over all my information on Monday and hopefully I will be able to meet with the surgeon next week.My surgeons office said after seeing the doc, its about 3 weeks until your surgery which works out, since the winter semester would be starting shortly after that. Im getting excited, but nervous Aetna will deny my claim since I didnt see the doctor in 2011, so I dont have a 2 year history of being overweight, even though the office has my weight history since 2005. Im going to try and find out if I saw a different doctor in 2011, and get the information faxed to them, so the claim is accepted.

How is everyone doing with significant others being supportive. My boyfriend of 5 years, isnt being all that supportive. While he wants me to lose weight for my health, he likes BBW, OBVISOULY. He is afraid I will lose too much weight and my curves, how can I make him understand, It will just be a new and improved kind of curves?

Hi All!

I wanted to start a thread for African-American sleevers (no worries I HEART all sleevers from the rainbow). I just thought' date=' no scientific proof, that African-American sleevers may respond to the surgery different than our lovely non-African American sleeved sisters and brothers. I wanted to know if we had the same skin issue, hair problems, and other surgery related issues. Also, how to deal with the culture shock. African-American "soul food" may be something of the past... or not. So I was just looking for a space to voice culture related issues and concens.

PS- I TRULY  ALL SLEEVERS.

How long have you been sleeved. I just got sleeved on Wednesday, 12/12/12

That would be great! I'm trying to be more active with this WL tool, and I figure a support group or something along those lines would be a great way to start!

Day 5 of 14 pre- op diet consisting of G2 Gatorade and a chocolate 30 gram Protein Shake then another g2 for Breakfast. Repeat for lunch plus a Water and sugar free Jello or sugar free pudding. Then mootopia milk with dinner. And chicken broth with a little unflavored Unjury and I am good. Not forgetting the Lactaid. I drink a bottle of water in the middle of the night to finish. I got this! On to the next!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
