I love the folks I work with, they are there for me when I need them, but don't mind being totally un PC and letting me be the butt of a joke. They are all artists, and social workers too... a little bit whacked.

I was telling them today that I am almost at my surgery day early next week. One all asked me to explain what I was having done, and I told her about the incisions, and how the laprascope(sp) works, and the machine that cuts/staples and cauterizes the stomach... and how much they are cutting off... when another co worker asked me what they will do with the stomach that they cut off, and everyone gave suggestions... my boss said I should keep it and make art out of it, then suggested I make dog chews for my little dog, someone else I should make something out of Perhaps a nice lamp, it, l suggested a coin purse would be nice... then someone said perhaps a dog toy.... like a little football or something... we were laughing SO hard after work! I said, I've got to laugh about it now, because next week I'll pop a stitch if I laugh like this! They are all really nice people, and humor is a great ice breaker for difficult subjects.laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

That brought back memories and I feel sorry for you, I remember the pain of wanting to belong but that came with a price and I was the joking part of it. . . being the brunt of jokes and such is not good, outwardly it's fun to laugh and to be "part of the group" however, inwardly it hurts like hell. . . I'm glad your getting your surgery soon and i'm glad your people are "nice" and that humor is great, but soon it will be directed not at you but to something else. . . good luck!

Thin, I gotta tell you, I love this group and they come through for me everyday...they are not "sizest"... I am as likely as any of them to come up with a twisted comment...Its a bit of a high stress job, and humor gets us all through at times. I'm glad we could joke around, they would never be truly nasty and try to make me feel bad about anything. Perhaps our "bonding" moments would not be appreciated by all, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for the concern... if it was another group with a history of meanness and prejudice, I might feel differently...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
