Any other gay sleevers out there?

Recommended Posts

Welcome Chris,

I am still doing pre-requisites for insurance, Nutritionists done, physic, evaluation done, blood work done, EKG was done, but now they want a stress test, then a Endo scope, and they can submit to insurance.

Shooting for end of April, 3 weeks after planned family vacation.

This has been a roller coaster of emotions and have a ways to go yet, but trudging along.

There is a lot useful practical guy stuff in the "guys room".

*waves* I belong here. There is a Facebook group, one for WLS Men and one for WLS LGBT. If anyone is interested in joining, add me on Facebook and let me know. They are closed groups so may not be able to search them. Www.facebook.com/Richard.godfrey or rgodfrey09@gmail.com should find me

I'm a member of the mens group. Cant find the gay one.

Hi! I'm new to the forum (and gay). I haven't had the sleeve surgery yet, but my surgical date will likely be in early May.

It's nice to know I can come back to this thread for info in the future.

I'm Sean, by the way.

Hi everyone! Out since 1986, post-op one month. I am still dealing with the mental aspects of this surgery. Cravings (that I don't really want to eat) and the craziness of being full after 2 bites. Lots of things to get used to. Glad I found this group!

John

Hey everyone....I have been a member of bariatric pal for a little while now but I haven't seen the homo section. Glad I found it though! I am about 3 1/2 weeks from my surgery day. Excited but it just got real this past week when I scheduled it. I have been, like I'm sure most of you have been, a lot bigger than I am now and also a lot smaller. It seems like, no matter how hard I've worked, the weight never stays off. That was what made me decide on the gastric sleeve.

Welcome Kyle,

Finally got my stuff submitted to the insurance, last week. I got a little short with the doctors office. They will not do surgery if you smoke! So, I quit on the first, told them right now is not a good time to be making my life difficult, just a tad short tempered.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
